Annoyed Thoughts

Final update (hopefully final, anyway): she still didn’t respond directly to my questions (maybe she views it as a competition to see how many rounds she can last without directly responding  ), but she did respond in enough detail that I am pretty certain I will not have to file an extension. woot! That was a nice end to the day.

…but you get to wfh…

…will be the corporate response.

Chilis is out of chicken tenders.

How is that even possible?

There are no free meals.

the tender vender, engendered a tender sender, who had a fender bender, the car mender rendered no better. So the tender vender wendered to a tender lender who failed to get the hen there. Hence I will end here.

The Ikea my kid likes to visit has been like that recently. By the evening, right when I’m starting to think of food, most of their menu is sold out. And they start leaving out ingredients. With no onions on the veggie hot dog, there’s not much point in getting one. None of that lingonberry stuff on the plate? You’ve literally got hundreds of jars of lingonberry jelly in the store. Just go grab one.

new annoyed thought:

I have overlapping graduations to attend on May 9. Daughter is graduating college and son is out of high school. Pending any issues.

Normally this wouldn’t be a problem, except the high school two years ago moved graduation about 2 weeks earlier. No idea why, except that they figured the seniors had such bad senior-itis that it didn’t matter any more, so why not? Unfortunately that means now I have scheduling conflicts.

It’s too early on a Monday for this to start up already.

How often do you go to Ikea?

Probably every month or two. Places with escalators are among the preferred destinations for my son and an Ikea near us has not only escallators, but several shopping-cart escalators.

i love trips to ikea. good for me it’s 3 miles away. my kids loved the meatballs and fries

It’s been a while, don’t they have a wedge salad for like $4? I thought that was pretty solid. and yes, meatballs!

The experience isn’t what it was a few years ago. Everything is about twice the price it was, but I guess what isn’t. At least at the store with shopping-cart escalators, it’s not cafeteria style. They have the ordering kiosk thingies, most of which aren’t operating. Those working always have a decent-sized line. It’s now served on paper plates.

And they are trying to switch from the shopping carts to yellow plastic bins on wheels - kind of like a Kohl’s basket - which can be brought on the regular escalator. It will be a very sad day indeed if they ever shut down the shopping-cart escalators.

Those are so cool. It must have been 4-5 years since I’ve been to IKEA, since we bought our old house we mostly buy old furniture.

Verizon is down with no ETA. Stuck on SOS mode.

Organizing these university students can be a bit annoying some days. Taking 5 students fishing on Saturday. one of them doesn’t give me their phone or address for pickup until today - I’ve been asking since Sunday.

They give me their address. i google it. It’s in toronto. I’m picking people up in waterloo. Like, wut? It’s entirely clear that I’m picking everyone up in waterloo, its organized on a waterloo subreddit. Just oblivious.

Then I have another guy ghosting me. He finally answers on reddit - oh, I’ve been talking to you on discord, so you have my info. Really? How am I supposed to know that Flying Butt Monkey user on Reddit who said they would come fishing, is the same person as FUckingKillMe user on discord, who happens to be Ryan.

etc. lol.

I just popped some dough in the oven when the smoke detector went off.

Oh wow, I’m seeing anecdotal reports this was/is fairly widespread. I’m on Verizon in Kansas and it’s been fine, curious to hear the story!

XPost insignificant smoke signals thread?
