Annoyed Thoughts

This summer. Jersey Shore. I live 7 minutes from the ocean, so it’s okay to spend $6,000 to drive 90 minutes to stay at someone else’s house near the beach.

Guy I used to work with sailed boats. His wife would travel with him. Upon reaching the destination, she would stay on the boat and read a book.

I did a whole body lifting workout, and I am suuuuper sore today.

These days? Pretty much; everything makes me sore.

Just got back from the dentist: they found a cavity and I gotta go back in a week. Wah. :frowning:

Sounds like a nice vacation, although my interest in exploring the destination would vary with the destination.

My uncle has an airplane. When he & my aunt go on vacation he flies his airplane and she flies commercial. This is BY FAR the most expensive possible way for two people to get from A to B.

They’re paying for the airplane fuel, takeoff/landing/hangar fees, one plane ticket, commercial airport parking…

But he likes flying his own plane and she hates it, so that’s what they do. :woman_shrugging:

He flew planes in the military for decades, so it’s not like he’s not an experienced well-trained pilot or anything.

I had my daily medications in my hoodie pocket (multi, magO7, and daily antiviral for the mouth herps) and my husband tossed it into the wash. Now my hoodie smells like iron; gross.

Nothing going right lol, except the sky is blue and it’s a beautiful almost-spring day out there.
A week ago I was pumpin’ some iron, got a bit aggressive, and pulled a muscle in my back. Sucks getting old, it takes forever to heal. A week later I can still hardly sit at my desk, everytime I move my neck I’m in pain. Geez.

And my ads aren’t running, partly do to google, partly due to me. I turned the dial way up on my daily advertising spend…and Google’s response was to double my cost per action. I’m sorry, if I spend $1K and the cost per action is $25 I’m fine. I spend $2K and you now give me a cost per action of $50, all of a sudden I’m spending 10’s of thousands, and losing money. No thanks, I’m not spending someone else’s budget here - I’m spending my retirement funds. But what really shut it down was the increased spending blew past the credit limit on the card. OK, so we pay off the card and tell google to try again. Except Google let the billing go long enough that now the amount outstanding exceeds the limit on the card. So now I have to swap cards or something. Geez, what a bunch of admin work for no reason. Anyway, gonna go give my back a rest for a few minutes and then figure out how to get Google turned back on again, probably so I can just turn it off until monday.

A report that has run successfully for literally decades out of internal systems arbitrarily multiplied reserves by 10, with many downstream effects.

An accounting position I work with annually has a new person in the role, and stuff I usually get in February I’m just getting now to be done by April 1.

Our latest corporate security update broke just a whole bunch of stuff this morning.

Today has been productive.

It’s a bit windy. Here’s my front yard:

My very old keyboard that I liked had the left shift key stop working. Couldn’t get it going, so hooked up another one I had around. The old one has the style I prefer: relatively short travel and lighter resistance. This one has long travel and seems very clunky. I’m a lot slower using it at the moment. I’ll see how long it takes me to adjust, or to get bothered enough to go buy one in a style I prefer.

Lovely. We had a 35’ walnut fall last week in a storm here in Kansas. I’m still splitting the wood, my back is killing me and today I got a steel shard from the splitting maul lodged in my thumb. I managed to get it out, it’s fine.

I’m not saying “you’re doing it wrong” but I rented a gas-powered wood splitter off of (wherever my BIL finds these things (some guy on the internet)) & using that thing was fun.

Walnut? Was the tree large enough for the wood to be usable?

I started notching a 18"-dia pine killed by beetles at the back corner of my yard. It is between 2 of the neighbor’s dead pines (2.5’ dia, 60 ft or so tall) and the HOA’s pine of similar size that fell on my chain link fence last week. The breeze kicked up and I got scared and fled. Hopefully the rough weather today will finish the job for me. All that is worthless wood.

Probably the smart move, I tend to brute force things more than I should.

16” diameter at the base, but it had some insect damage, so there wouldn’t have been a ton of yield I don’t think.

didn’t know @BruteForce had a side hustle like that. i bet your loyalty is appreciated

traveling for work on a sunday. flight delayed 2.5 hrs at departure bc of weather in destination. arrive and sit 25 minutes on tarmac bc no gates.
[inconvenience trivial compared to folks i had dinner with where it was 3 hrs delayed leaving their city and 3,5 hrs on tarmac once landed!]

hotel room has a smell. figure out it is…the carpet under the desk area is VERY wet. towel i throw down at least suggests the wetness is colorless. note to self - do not walk in that area for the next 3 days.

I realized this morning when I got back from my trip to Tucson that I forgot my phone at the rental. I reached out the the airbnb host and they confirmed that they found my phone. Then they asked me “What do you want us to do with it?”

I don’t know, Flush it down the toilet? Use it as a tiny charcuterie board?

Dude. Mail it back to me. What a dumb &^*$ing question.
