quick glance i thought that was a pregnancy test. then i checked the surroundings (annoyed?) and then the fine print and well…hope it isn’t a bad run of it
This is my other son! He didn’t catch it when his brother had it. But at least the older son should be immune.
Oh no! I missed that it was the other one. Well that super stinks.
Hope you & Mr N.A. stay healthy.
I woke up with a headache, not a good sign. Was debating working or not, and then my power flickered on and off five times and is now off for good. That question has an answer, I guess.
Sometimes I suck at life so hard.
I just installed a screen protector for my new phone.
1 the phone already has a scratch on the screen so my procrastination has cost me again
2 despite following all cleaning instructions there are two specks underneath the screen protector
I have a 40" flat screen TV in the master bedroom on top of a TV stand. I like to sometimes connect my work gear to the TV to have a larger screen when I am doing some late night work.
Our little one (she is 5) decides that she needs to move the TV so that she can see her cartoons better (she sometimes likes to see them upstairs in our room)
TV flips over and screen gets broken. Total loss.
Arrgghhhh…£1k just evaporated.
1K for a 40"? In lbs? Holy crap that’s expensive. On the plus side, sounds like she didn’t get hurt.
UK can be a bit expensive for higher end tech vs US (you guys have way cheaper higher end tech).
She is ok (the tv screen cracked in a few places so not salvageable)
We grounded her for a month with no cartoons as she does need to learn a lesson about this*
*I posted about this before but she has a habit of handling expensive electronics without permission and causing damage (last time it was her moms iphone)
And that’s £1,000, which is closer to $1,500.
Costco has 43” UHD TVs for $199 plus tax, although for the highest end 43” TV it’s close to $1,000. Not even possible to spend $1,500 on that size.
You guys are depressing me with your low prices in the US
So I got the TV a year and a bit back for £1k
Same one (42") is now £899
Using current FX, £1k is about $1,245 now
USD has appreciated quite a bit relative to GBP
Looks like the closest thing I can find is $899 here. So the difference is whatever the exchange rate is.
So it does look like £1 = $1 in terms of pricing.
I see this a lot with electronics. Makes things a lot more expensive in UK.
Yep
Although if your £900 includes VAT and I suspect it does… add something like 7-10% to Twig’s $899 for sales tax. Closes a bit of the gap.
Depends on where you are in the U.S. Some states don’t have sales tax.
Good point. The £899 is indeed inclusive of VAT.
Looked it up, five states! I think I only knew about OR. Is there generally no sales tax at all, or is there still a city/county/whatever sales tax?
In Oregon no sales tax at all. If an item costs $0.99 and you pay with a $1.00 bill they give you a penny back. (Until pennies disappear anyway.)
Same for Alaska and Delaware.
Not sure about Montana and New Hampshire. I haven’t done enough shopping in those states to know.
Oregon DOES tax cigarettes and alcohol and I assume that the other states do as well. But not TVs. People from surrounding states will make a point to go to the tax free state to buy TVs and iPhones and computers and such. Quite a boon to the economy.
I can’t even escape reality here.
