My older daughter drove my younger daughter back to school yesterday to avoid snowmagedon today and that turned out to be a very good decision as she said there is a ton of snow outside her apartment today.

Kitchen faucet started to leak at the base. So fun filled trip to Home Depot to buy a new one and then getting under the sink to install. Not what I was looking forward to today but at least it’s done and doesn’t leak anymore.

Schools got a weather day today, which isn’t the annoyed thought. The district waited until 4am to send out the robocall. So I’ve been awake since then.
Everything else, all the other districts in the area and even the huge university that rarely cancels, called it last night. But our district put it off. Which doesn’t really seem like a big deal, but it’s a lot tougher to make contingency plans for the day at 4am compared to 8pm the day before. And most parents in the district are lower income where WFH isn’t an option, and a day off isn’t paid.
On the other hand, lots of kids go without food and other critical services when they call a snow day, so I get why they weigh the decision heavily.

Our superintendent was famous for doing the 4am call and got lots of heat for it. He has finally caved and does the evening before like the surrounding communities.

I can see waiting until the morning of if you truly don’t know if it will be bad enough to warrant a snow day the day before.
But where it’s pretty d@#+ obvious that there’s no freaking way school is happening, please do not be robocall me at 4 AM telling me I can sleep in.

We get a lot of bread products (bits and pieces of rolls for example) on our driveway and back deck. Only explanation is a bird that leaves them there. Used to be just about every day, but is now more like once or twice a month.
