This is the way water meter setups are in my state too
I have no idea the point at which hubby & I become responsible for the water or sewer. How can I find out? Is there maintenance I should be doing? Is there a reasonable way tell that you’re about to have a problem or are you supposed to just wait until you do?
Hubby & I are terrible homeowners and should really move to a condo. He came up with this idea on his own last week, which means that now it might happen. So I guess I just have to hope nothing blows up in the next 3-24 months (estimated timeline to find a desirable place to move). But still… it’d be nice to know.
I don’t know how to tell at what point in the pipe you become responsible for repairs.
There isn’t really any maintenance, it’s just a pipe in the ground and eventually it will fail. Older galvanized steel pipes (like I had) don’t last quite as long as copper, or as long as I expect pex will last. I’d say most buried pipes should last 50 years or more. If your home is less than ~40 years old then I wouldn’t worry much.
It’s state by state, but in most of them, you are responsible for all pipes on your property.
Oh! I also learned recently that the city is going to be doing sidewalk repair this summer. My yard stops about 5’ short of the sidewalk, so the sidewalk is on city property. But I am responsible for the cost to repair the sidewalks in front of my house. So that’s another annoyed thought for this thread!
House is 39 years old. This is the precise age where every single thing in the house breaks all at the exact same time.
When the dog drops the ball 10-15 feet away and/or under the swings when playing fetch.
Does Echo do that thing where she drops the ball 10-15 feet away, stands over it staring at you to get it, then when you get about 5’ away she picks it up again & runs away?
Because that game is so much fun (for my dog).
Right. My house is 109 years old, and it seems everything just keeps breaking, lol. It’s all downhill for you from here.
Ha, no, but I know of that game. And the dog would bark until you’d come near the ball, then snatch it away. Definitely annoying.
She used to not drop the ball at all but liked to run after them, so I had about 15 balls in the yard and I’d just walk around the yard and thrown them. I’ve found that if I tap the chuck it on the ground, she’ll drop it closer (sometimes will drop it much further away).
Did you get another dog?
Very familiar with that game, too. Took probably about a year to get her to drop anything, which then turned into the “drop & tease” game I described.
Not a new dog, why?
I remember from the AO that you had a dog pass away even though it was young. I was wondering if you got another dog after that.
No drop and tease game with my dog, but sometimes she’ll make laps around me while she catches her breath but wants me to keep playing. When she finally drops it, it’s usually behind me.
Gov’t regs say that I don’t have to verify client ID when working with clients.
Gov’t regs then go on to have a full list of techniques I need to follow to verify client ID when working with clients.
Gov’t regs then say in situation A, you have additional requirements in a specific instance.
Then they say in situation B, you can use situation A plus something else, but don’t describe if the additional requirements from situation A carry over.
And a call to a friendly gov’t rep resulted in a fun conversation, but they had no clue as to the answer - they consulted the same published doc I did and also concluded uh, I dunno.
I also have a friend who said the best way to get ghosted by a compliance lawyer at a life insurance company is to ask about the conflict between my first and second sentence.
Should I feel flattered or creeped you remember that? (tacogirl.gif)
Yes, current dog was the rebound puppy.
My grocery delivery was supposed to be from 2-3 and is now 8-11 PM. I assume it’ll arrive tomorrow.
Regulators, amirite?
Now I’ve got one giving me the gears around a name. The name has been approved federally and by two provinces AND any mention of the name includes a specific indicator. Yet one regulator has concerns that the name might be misunderstood that it’s NOT the specific indicator (which is right beside the name). And no, there’s no way someone who stands upright would ever misinterpret in the way they’re suggesting.
Is AXA Equitable a conflict resolution company? It says equitable right there in the name, someone might think they’re in the business of providing equitable conflict resolution. Yeah, that level.
Clearly JFG is just on his game after our immeasurably useful advice in the womanspeak thread!
The bottom rack in my dishwasher severely needs to be replaced. However, it is from an ancient Kenmore and if I want the exact same part, it’s upward of $350!!! Even a generic rack (assuming it’ll fit) is gonna put me out about $150!!!
Same exact problem actually. Trying to hold out for a total kitchen overhaul…but I hate it every time I open it.
