Annoyed Thoughts: archive 1

Yeah, my husband learned how to change his own oil with his first car, something he and his grandfather worked together on. He’ll still fork over almost $100 for an oil change now, because it’s not worth the effort for him to do it himself.

I change my own oil (engine and gear) on my scooter. THAT is super easy and cheap, would not pay someone else to do it for me.

yeah, that’s annoying.

We’ve been using a volvo specialist forever for my SO’s volvo’s. The mechanic has won international awards from volvo mechanic contests, he’s over the top expert. Just retired about 2 weeks ago, right when my SO bought a new volvo. His last job apparently was certifying my SO’s last volvo prior to us selling it. Now what. I use a local guy for my other vehicles but having a specialist on the brand makes the little things so much easier.

Don’t put yourself down. Hydroponics isn’t easy.

It could also be a happy thought for him/her.

My bread dough was too wet and didn’t puff up nicely when I baked it. I am disappoint.

But if your bread doesn’t puff, whose will??

This happens to me a lot trying to make sourdough. It apparently needs to feel drier than when doing something like yeast rolls using rapid-rise. Or maybe the rapid-rise just makes those more forgiving. :man_shrugging:

Annoyed at my partner today. Was excoriated out of nowhere over a suggestion that I thought was really good. Just being told it wasn’t a good idea would have sufficed, although I still stand by it. I give them an occasional pass over not verbalizing well and this is their pass, but somewhat ruined my day. I expect they will apologize later - they’re not abusive or anything, just sometimes overly emotional and it leaks out. I also take criticism very deeply.

Been a loyal SWA customer for 30 years. Never seen anything like this. Our flight home from vacation was canceled along with hundreds of other flights this weekend.

Weather my ass. Every other airline was flying today. Thank god we still had our rental car. They let us drive it home. Cost a fortune but we had no choice. SWA solution was to fly us home in 2 DAYS with no accommodations available. SMFH

Yeah, they said they canceled 150 for weather, but canceled 500 in total. SW is supposed to take my family to Maui on Thursday, they need to get it together.

The so-called “passenger bill of rights” exempts weather-related cancellations.

I maintain that’s absurd. The whole passenger bill of rights is obviously from the perspective of the airline. The passenger suffers the same loss regardless of the purpose of the flight cancellation.

Covering weather-related cancellations would increase ticket prices as the airline would have to pay for a lot more hotel rooms & meal vouchers. But it would affect all airlines across-the-board and function as a form of insurance. It would also incentivize airlines to have some excess capacity and disincent them from setting up hubs in thunderstorm-prone areas.

I always pick between southwest and delta. For my flight next weekend it happened to be delta that had the better options so I went with them. Hopefully they dont decide to become a big fuckup too.

Seems that all the airlines suck sometimes.

This is why I prefer driving!

driving scares me. which reminds me of this dream i had last night that i was forced to drive, and i was terrified, and then i lost the car never to be found.

i’m cool being a passenger though.

If I can drive somewhere, I will. We are talking about taking a long road trip before the boys are back in school; the drive becomes a part of the trip and since I have a fear of flying, I don’t feel anxious the whole time.

My 5yo woke up with a fever of 102+. I should have guessed he was getting sick. Last night he wanted two warm baths because he was cold, told me his throat was scratchy, and he was at Bible camp all week last week with unmasked evangelicals.

Case counts in our county are very low, so I don’t think it’s covid. Hope it passes quickly. He just got over an ear infection, and this is a kid who never gets sick.

If it’s a drive of 6 hours or less, I will choose driving over flying every time. More than 6 hours depends on a number of factors: price, frequency of flights, availability of non-stops, convenience of destination airport to where I’m going, will I need a car at destination…

I do like road trips

Same. The frustrating thing is that it wasn’t about the weather. They are lying. By saying it’s weather, they just avoid accountability.

I’ve flown SWA in bad weather many times. Once the plane I was on was hit by lightning. You don’t cancel 500 flights because of a few minor thunderstorms in June.

Lately I’ve been getting queasy after drinking my morning coffee. Only happens maybe once a week, nothing different about those days vs any other, reminiscent of taking an iron supplement on an empty stomach (don’t advise trying).

The video on my work laptop freezes up; gonna have to use my own laptop for Zoom calls until the tech guys can fix it.
