Annoyed Thoughts: archive 1

From today’s Duolingo lesson. You can see which English words I selected as my answer to translate the Spanish phrase.

WTF? why should they be asking whether the correct translation of “celulares” is “cell phones” or “cellphones”. FWIW, they said my answer was correct, but later on in the lesson they used “cell phones” once and “cellphones” once.

It was actually an English spelling test in disguise - “Is ‘cell%phones’ spelled with one word or two?”

Just had to reschedule my annual physical. Was going to be in about 6 weeks, so it’s not like I’m waiting until the last minute. New appointment time is about 2 months after original.

It’s that time of year where you need to be wary about touching metal objects. :zap:

I really want to get my home office re-wired, it’s some of the last old knob & tube in the house. Since it’s not grounded, my light switch often likes to shock the crap out of me. So I feel your annoyed thought.

The weather alert on my work computer looks like a piece of pizza :pizza: . Now I’m hungry…just because a snowstorm is coming.

I just got a copy of the contract and app info for the term insurance I bought: my occupation is listed as underwriter. Le sigh… :man_facepalming:

ETA: And they also mispelled my ER’s name… :unamused:

Oh, man. You would hate my emails.

That being said, I’m a lovely communicator in comparison to some of the actuaries I’ve been blessed to work with.

g minor is going to be the death of me. I keep playing the Ab.
I think it’s because this melody starts on middle C (Christ Unser Herr Zum Jordan Kam) and it feels like it should be c minor

Cancelled a dinner party before Christmas because covid. Rescheduled for Tonite, four people just dropped out due to covid.

I canceled a bunch of holiday celebrations due to my having COVID. We had our “Christmas dinner” with the inlaws Wednesday night, although this time they offered to host rather than the original plan of us hosting. When we got there, FIL had a bad cough and sore throat.

At least I should be temporarily immune to the current COVID strain.

youngest frazier’s car gives 0 heat. so i took it in. a leak in some part that is hard to get to for replacing. cost might be $2K.

mrs f immediately jumps to “we should just replace it.” the car is old - 2008 but only 92K miles. it is the acr my kid gets to drive for free. we are not otherwise in the market for a car so no logical trickle down where my car is re-assigned to kid while I upgrade (or spouse upgrades).

this is 1000% guaranteed to be something we don’t agree on and i will be labelled the cheap ass. i just need my kid to have a reasonably safe and functioning car for like 2 years more.

I would also probably spend the $2k on the repair, but that would likely depend on what I thought the car was worth.
