Annoyed Thoughts: archive 1

Sometimes it’s just a string of different bugs attacking when your immune system is weak. Sorry, that really sucks. Whatever it is I hope you’re feeling better soon!

Yeah, that’s what I was wondering, in which case I probably don’t need the antibiotic.

Did you get a 2023 calendar? Or a 1970 calendar? Because it’s 2023 and nobody uses calendars anymore. Geesh.

I hang a wall calendar in my kitchen. I don’t use it for planning, but the two-bit city I live in puts one out that has useful items on it like which holidays are observed by the trash company so we know which weeks the trash pickup is a day late, when the municipal swimming pool opens & closes… stuff like that.

Relative likes pugs. I’m sure the calendar is just a decoration and said relative uses their iPhone calendar for actual planning, like a normal person. But this person likes their pug wall calendars that I’ve been gifting for maybe 20 years now, so I go with what works.

Every year or two (including this year) I check in… still like pug calendars? Yep! Okie dokie!

Or Just dig out your 1996 calendar.

The phases of the moon would be on the wrong days as would any holidays they are tied to such as Easter and Passover.

Yeah yeah yeah…

It took a bit of coaxing, but I eventually got my spouse away from hanging stupid calendars all through the house. Ofc saying stupid calendars is redundant.

hurt my Achilles, went to Dr, prescribed rehab

went to rehab, paid $100. Same as I paid other visits, previously. I have a high deductible and wasn’t near it.

Got bill for additional $73. I feel it is ridiculous. They did nothing, exercises were useless, no ice, electrostimulous. So glad made no additional payments.

Any recourse? How many bills do i make them send before I pay to not screw credit?

The last one before they send it to collections

$85 to change a headlight in my vehicle. Because in my vehicle changing a simple bulb isn’t a DIY proposition.

sucks to be you. i changed my headlights 3 months ago, then over the weekend did new wiper blades and new engine air filter and cabin air filter. DIY’ing all these saved me at least $100 in total.

I got a little metal splinter in my index finger. It hurtied. Wah. :face_with_head_bandage: :confounded:

Woke up feeling ill with sore throat, congestion. This is only the second time I’ve been sick with anything since early 2020, and both times I caught a bug traveling in or to/from Europe.

We have a new covid variant in Europe (JN.1) and from the looks of things we are at the beginning of a winter wave. Probably worth doing a covid test if you have one around.

Sometimes it does. But I blame dodge not the mechanic. It involved coming in from both the engine bay and the wheel well and removing the whole unit. And the mechanic said of course every bolt was rusted. So I paid, but I saved a lot of frustration.

This is why I always ask my mechanic for advice about which car to buy. I have avoided cars that he said were reliable but maintenance was a pain and/or expensive

Yeah. But I’m driving a dodge ram. I know exactly what the problems are, have the same ones as 10000 other drivers lol. Oil pan, check. Exhaust manifold bolts, check. Drivers window that rattled, check.

I’m still blown away that an oil pan can rust out. I was also startled by the replacement cost.

I’ve got 340k on it now though, and no signs of stopping. Drives pretty much like new. Hoping to get some body work on it this year and have it go another 5 years. At that point maybe electric will be a consideration.

If it makes you feel better, I spent 12+ hours changing headlights on a Chevy Volt. Had one connector that was veeery slightly faulty and it turns out the website had an error and I ordered the wrong kind of harness.

Why is it so hard to give away good free shit to people in need? Had a fancy glider ($$$ new) from when my kids were infants and none of the places that work with mothers in need would take it. They only want new stuff.
