Isn’t pointing this out your raison d’etre Ms. @NerdAlert?
don’t “lose” weight. your subconscious will just try to find it again.
also, obligatory “pics of the squeaky sparkling clean colon, or it didn’t happen”.
That is correct, but people seem to have forgotten my authority around here.
BG & Steve & I are just trying to help you re-establish it.
Or in the spirit of Christmas I am just attempting to return the weight to its rightful place, a la the Grinch and Whoville.
Misread that. I blame @Bro and his pics comment.
Can relate.
I find myself horribly unmotivated today, and I’ve got a ton of TPS Reports to produce.
I completely empathize with you. 5 years ago, we had the bonus kids up with us for a week. Late in the week, we’re talking to their mom and she’s lamenting that they’ll have to do driver’s ed and she’ll have to get vehicles and auto insurance for them and how expensive that’s going to be and she can’t afford stuff as it is.
I made an offer: her kids could live with us. Their high school was about the same size as ours, we had an extra room for them, … they could move in with us, go to school here, I’d pay for driver’s ed, they’d have a vehicle they could share with our kids, I’d pay for their auto insurance [which was really adding them to the policy, not adding a vehicle], I’d pay for their high school stuff and they could do all the same stuff they’d done their freshman year, I’d pay for anything else they needed. She could use that time to save up money, get stuff [get her shit] together, I’d send pictures so she knew what was going on, I’d bring them down every so often to visit and all that, … zero cost to her, no other obligations on her part. All she had to do was say ‘yes’ and I’d take care of the rest.
She laughed. I laughed and said “… but I’m serious, I really would do it.” She didn’t. That was ~5 more years of hell the kids had to endure before she finally did the best thing she could have for them: die.

Talked to the lawyer today, expressed we want to get our lemon surrendered ASAP lest it drag out 3 weeks, weather gets cold, 3rd party finally wants to surrender, and the heater won’t work and we’re trying to drive an icebox. Get an e-mail from the lawyer shortly before noon: they have surrender information from the 3rd party and a notice, have your client call us at this number, with this reference ID, to schedule the surrender.
Call the number, state that we’re trying to schedule the surrender and give the reference ID.
Vendor: I see that reference ID here, … um, we can’t talk to you to schedule the surrender.
Me: Why not?
Vendor: We need your lawyer to say it’s OK for you to surrender the vehicle.
Me: I can’t just forward you the e-mail where they tell us to do this?
Vendor: No, we’ll need something in writing from them.
Now waiting for the lawyer to get back from lunch. I really want to drive back home and go kick the soon-to-be-lemoned vehicle.
Drove across town to the only calendar store in town. They are supposed to be open but there is no one there at the kiosk in the mall. Contemplate the merits of writing a check for the calendar including sales tax and leaving it there for them and taking the calendar (which was not secured at all) but ultimately decide that I don’t want to get arrested for shoplifting, which despite my check is what this will look like. (No clue if they even take checks, after all.)
Ultimately order one from Amazon for less money. I just hope it’s in decent condition when it arrives. This has been a big problem in the past and the reason I drive across town to pick one up in person. I would not have driven 20 miles each way had I known that their posted hours were inaccurate.
Took what should’ve been a more efficient route (short stretch of highway, fewer lights) to Target and was reminded why the back roads are better.
Curbside pickup was efficient but happiness that was erased by the oblivious drivers in the parking lot.
We are headed to visit family on Saturday and my wife and I decided we are taking the route that adds about 15-20 minutes and a few extra miles because it’s not just straight, boring highways the whole way.
FWIW, we buy ours from https://www.ataglance.com/
I have been sick (cold/flu symptoms) since Nov 17. Tested + for flu Nov. 27. Symptoms never totally cleared up and I feel crappy again.
Got amoxycillin from telehealth doc—did he prescribe it just to get me off the phone? Hasn’t done anything but it’s less than 24 hours so I suppose it’s early.
And I need to be in the office this week. Luckily OTC stuff is keeping the cough at bay.
I have Covid tested 3 times, most recently yesterday, all negative.
Maybe it’s a trap. You take the calendar, you get arrested for shoplifting and your sentence is…working 100 hours at the kiosk (or at least until you can lure someone into the same trap).
Thanks for the suggestion but this specifically has to be a pug wall calendar which they don’t seem to have.
