Annoyed Thoughts: archive 1

Our cat is shedding big time now (summer).

We are abroad for 10 days so our pet sitters come in 2x/day to take care of our UK cat.

He is now nesting in my chair. :frowning:

Kitty

Your cat looks like Patches - he was a famous kitty in Regina that had his legs duck-taped by teenagers that I hope don’t reach adulthood due to being murdered.

I am sent to cvs to pick up 3 scripts for mrs f. She tells me what they are but i nearly always forget. I pick up the 2 they acknowledge and call her. She asks “what anout C?” I say they didnt mention it. She says “i called it in!” I say they didnt mention it, just sone other one she no longer uses.

Bc i couldnt get her to pick up while i was st the store i drive home. Now i call back and ask “what about C?” They say “oh, we can fill that. When do you need it? Asap? Sure come back, ready in 10 minutes.”

That repeats about every other month

Have you considered looking at their website (or having your wife look) to verify the prescriptions she wants are available before going?

Situations like this are why we use a mail order pharmacy.

My cat was sleeping at the foot of the bed a few nights ago, and started to slide off in the middle of the night, so she flailed and stuck her claws into my foot, taking a chunk of skin with it.

It hurt a lot at the time, and today in the shower I was exfoliating and forgot about it until I scrubbed the scab off. Not recommended.

I needed to re-read this because initially my mind saw this:

…and I was thinking, “Well, that’s awfully nice of the cat to try to catch you while you’re falling.”

Maybe if the cat does it a few more times you’ll start to develop a callus.

A shower beer would have helped here.

Headache. Probably dehydrated too. Washed down some Tylenol with pedialyte. Hopefully it’ll work its magic quickly.

Gen Z is at it again, taking all my favorite things and ruining them. This time, it’s “bed rotting.” Why can’t we accept that my favorite weekend hobby is a thing of beauty, and not an act of self-sabotage?

My dog’s nails are too long. I cut them every 2 weeks, because I keep hoping that I will whittle them down over time, but if it’s working, it’s impossible to tell to me. She also goes on two long walks a day, and has a backyard to freely roam, but it’s not enough.

They still clack on the floor, and every damn time I cut them, I nick at least one quick and have a bloody mess, even though I use styptic powder when that happens.

The poor girl is already traumatized by getting her nails trimmed from whatever hell her past life was, and I only seem to be making that worse for her. ALL her nails are black so of course it’s harder to tell when it’s going to happen.

I am jealous of pet owners who are able to keep their dogs’ nails at a reasonable length, or whose dogs will tolerate a trip to the groomer.

My dog’s nails don’t grow that fast. I get the groomer to do it when she gets a bath.

If you have issues hitting the quick using the traditional nail trimmer, you might consider getting a dremel with the dog nail kit. I’ve heard it’s much easier to avoid hitting the quick.

This one is pricey but supposed to be good:

You can find cheaper models. Note not all dogs like the noise/sensation, but some prefer it to the clippers. My groomer uses a dremel.

Yeah, that’s been tried, but definitely appreciate the suggestion.

She’s so on edge that I can’t get her to sit still long enough for anything except a fast guillotine type clip (with a guard to make sure I don’t take off too much at once, and the quick nicking still happens despite that), and my husband has to feed her treats constantly while I do it. And sometimes I even have to sedate her!

She’s a good dog, but clearly was abused and was a puppy mill breeder, and we have had her for a long time so this isn’t changing anytime soon.

Didn’t realise that kids in that neck of the woods in Canada were so nasty to animals.

I asked the pet sitters to give him a bit of a groom so he wouldn’t shed so much (heat wave right now in the south of the UK). He feels a bit better now.

I have been waking up with the worst dry eyes. It’s been happening off and on for the last few years, but consistently lately. Eye drops, dry eye ointments, etc. don’t appear to be doing anything to help. Bought a small humidifier for my night stand and a mister to spray in my eyes in the middle of the night. Hurts like hell.

The funny thing is that when I don’t drink any water, and only drink Coke Zero and coffee all day, it doesn’t happen. But when I drink water and try to focus on hydration, it’s bad. What the hell?

I love when I get an urgent request, drop what I’m doing to work on it, and as I’m in the process of sending the result back to the requester they email me to say “oops, the requirements are totally different from what I told you originally.”

And they typically want to remain at the front of the line. I have a pretty strict policy that if you give me bogus requirements and need to change something… the back of the line is right over there.

My city charges $15.50 for paying my trash bill online. Seems idiotic, as having someone deal with a paper check should be the thing that costs more. I hate having to mail checks via snail mail, but if it saves me $15.50 I’ll do it.

Also the dermatologist’s online bill pay is almost always non-functional. The one and only person in charge of billing is on vacation for 10 days, call back then. I’m even more annoyed to mail 2 checks at the same time.

My sister, who lives with another sister, told the other sister she would be home “soon” - yesterday at 11:30 AM. The other sister texted our sibling group chat last night close to midnight asking if any of us had heard from her. We hadn’t. Our calls and texts to both her and her boyfriend went unanswered.

She’s fine, just decided to stay at her boyfriend’s and turn her phone off. So my panic has dissolved into annoyance. But at least she’s alive.
