Did you check Sent Items?

I have noticed that occasionally when I send something that was first saved as a draft, it sends just fine but the draft persists. I have inadvertently sent emails twice due to this phenomenon.

Just checked: nothing sent. Le sigh…

They don’t make it with ro-SIN-en :face_vomiting: , do they???

I don’t think Target carries it either, but it’s flipping ridiculous. :face_with_symbols_on_mouth:

Approximately 12 years ago I needed surgery from a specialist. Got a recommendation from my regular doc, went in for the consultation. Now keep in mind that at this point my regular doctor has said “twig I recommend XYZ surgery and I suggest Dr. Smith be the one to do it”. I have not in any way, shape or form committed to actually getting the surgery at all… let alone from Dr. Smith.

Yet in my paperwork describing the surgery was a valid prescription for hydrocodone. WTF?!?!

I understand that they wanted me to have already filled the Rx before the surgery as I’d be too loopy afterwards to do it. But we hadn’t even set a date for the surgery!

I was a bit turned off by that, but elected to go with Dr. Smith anyway for reasons I won’t bore you with. So I went back for a pre-surgical … something, and they hand me another prescription for hydrocodone. No, no, you already gave me that. Do you need another? No! And then the morning of the surgery they gave me a third copy, at which point I noticed that there was a stack of about 300 of the things at the desk, all filled out and signed except for the patient’s name. I easily could have grabbed 50 when the receptionist went to get something off the printer and they never would have even noticed.

I had two follow-up appointments post-surgery and they tried to give me more narcotics Rx’s at both of those. I think at the second one I took it because even though the pain from the surgery was gone, hydrocodone is helpful with back pain. (Not what the surgery was for.)

So there’s one extreme. We are now at the opposite extreme where non-drug-addicts cannot get cheap, safe, effective drugs for their actual pain.

There’s a happy medium and we are way far away from that at present.

I hope so, because i have a really unpleasant reaction to dextromethorphan, which is the stuff you can get without a prescription. So I keep a bottle of codeine cough syrup around. That being said, i think dextromethorphan is actually a bit more effective at suppressing coughs. If you don’t get disphoria from it, i recommend you try it. And I’m not surprised if doctors need some reason beyond “i have a cough” to prescribe codeine.

As opioids go, codeine is milder and less addictive than most anything else on the market, though.

I don’t think codeine was the only active drug in the cough syrup… I think it was usually combined with promethazine or some other cough suppressant. That said, codeine is a mild cough suppressant anyway, so it would be somewhat effective by itself.

I believe the FDA has actually forbidden codeine use in cough syrup though, so @Lucy, you may need to stock up in Mexico or India when your current bottle runs out.

I’ve had two Rx cough syrups already in 2023: both say DM at the end, which I assume suggests they both contain dextromethorphan. I have no clue how easy or hard it would be to get the other active ingredients without the DM part though. If the pharmacist is mixing it up onsite I assume they could simply not add the DM but if it comes pre-mixed, perhaps not.

In one room of my house I have a TV that is not a smart TV.
I have cable. And I can access Prime through my Cable system.
I notice that you can now access HBO Max through Prime.
Already have HBO Max, but was never able to get on this TV before.
I see no way to access my account, but I sign up for a 7 day free trial.
What I was not sure of was I going to be charged after the trial or
would I be charged just to get HBO Max on this one TV

After 40 minutes (chat) and three representatives it seems to not get charged twice
I would have to cancel HBO Max and resubscribe through Prime.

Not going to do that, as my kids use my accounts and not sure how I even pay for Max currently,
I do subscribe to HBO.

This is about where I’m at. I have Hulu, Netflix, Disney, and Apple. At one point I got Disney free through Verizon, but that expired and now I think I have it bundled via Apple. I honestly can’t keep track of it all and I hate the whole model where everything’s a subscription.

I have some, my kids have some and we all share

Netflix is the only one who seems to care

Plus you can make a fortune selling them to the middle school kids!

Lol. I had a single hydrocodone pill that was left over from, I think, wisdom teeth removal. For the longest time - decades, I think - I didn’t take it but couldn’t bring myself to throw it out. I may even still have it today in the back of some drawer.

The stuff I have is just codeine and guaifenesin, an expectorant. And inactive ingredients, like water and sugar and food coloring. I think it has fake cherry flavor, too. You can certainly buy just guaifenesin, or guaifenesin with dextromethorphan.

For many years it has been illegal to sell just codeine as a cough suppressant, it had to be mixed with another active drug. Don’t ask me why. (But some of the opiate pain killers have tylenol in them for the same reason, and ironically, that tylenol kills people more often than the opiate does, at least from taking those legal pills.) There were two common “additional drugs”, so maybe you had codeine with the other one. I don’t think the other drug was super effective, I think it was mostly there for legal compliance.

When my mother was dying of covid, I learned that morphine is a decent cough suppressant, but that seems like overkill for a cold.

I bought some little chalk mechanical pencil refills for a quilting pencil, it was about $10, used Amazon because I needed them ASAP. This was last week.

The package shipped, got delayed, then got lost. I had found them cheaper from another place I do a lot of my online fabric shopping, so I canceled the Amazon order and made do with a crappier pencil.

Two days after I canceled the order, Amazon overnights the product to me from Seattle, and it arrives a week after I ordered it. Amazon doesn’t seem to have any record that they did this, though, they only have a record that the order was canceled and refunded. Whatever, guess I’m getting it for free because I’ve tried everything reasonable here. And since it was only $10, I doubt they want me to send it back anyway.

More PBM fun.

Asked them to send me a 2023 YTD Statement of Costs/Benefits. It is the detail I need to get repaid from a spending account.

They sent me the Statement just for me. I called and requested the rest…they said I couldn’t request it for anyone else over 18. But our respective profiles online all say “share everything with the other adults.” I can see the drugs online and get a summary (but not one I can submit for reimbursement). For every member of the family I can: pick up the drugs; pay for the drugs; have a consult with the pharmacist about the drugs; see the listing of them online and print it. But I need them all to call and request this.

I hate the system. (The one I work in.)

I burnt my toast this morning. It needed a bit of a scraping. Me annoyed.

Well, at least the toast didn’t have raisins in it. That would make it hard to scrape cleanly.

Any such “food item” would be killed with fire and then tossed into the compost bin!!! :-1:
