My HMO doctor just WILL NOT prescribe any pain meds, opiates or opioids or narcotics or anything, ever.
I know lots of docs were overprescribing these things in the past, but this guys pendulum has swung hard the other way is stuck. I am a week into a terrible, dry hacking cough and all I want is some freaking cough syrup. Don’t assume I am faking it because I am a junkie.
Can you change primary care physicians? I have a lot of flexibility. Quite possibly a new one would insist on seeing you, but at least you could get a prescription then.
I’d have to sift through the database and find one that is accepting new patients and then make an initial appointment and then hope he/she wasn’t a Script Scrooge like this guy.
Not a big fan of ketchup.
I went through a local mcdonalds and ordered a breakfast sandwich. Cashier asks me if I want ketchup. I responded “No, I don’t eat ketchup at breakfast. I’m not from Tavistock.”. She had a pretty good laugh at that. (Tavistock is a small rural town near here).
New annoyed thoughts. Recorded a video on my new pixel 7. 10 minutes in, I’m getting overheating warnings. Seriously? dammit. Google says it’s a known problem. So either I go back and get a different phone, or suck it up for 5 years with a phone prone to overheating.
Yeah, finding a new PCP is a pain, especially when you’re already sick. Mr aj takes a shot of whisky for his cough. Says it helps a lot. I can’t do it.
My husband just went to urgent care, and they gave him next to nothing for pain. It was 8 Vicodin, so 2-3 days max. I understand why they do this, because a drug seeker probably can’t get them from their own doctor.
Meanwhile, my surgeon was almost encouraging me to get a refill of my Vicodin even after I told him that I hadn’t finished the original prescription. I think for some reason it helps when you seem disinterested.
I am not up to date on the potency of various drugs. I know codeine is an opiate, but on the scale of powerfulness of drugs, isn’t codeine cough syrup < vicodin < percoset < morphine ?
Is codeine cough syrup still a thing? My pharmacy announced last year they would no longer sell products with codeine. I was under the impression it was due to a larger issue of abuse. Maybe that’s just Kroger who is no longer filling it, though. Sorry about your situation, though…it sucks to feel you have no options for pain.
Not sure, been awhile since I was prescribed cough medicine thankfully but a few years back I did get a cocaine cough syrup prescription but maybe that’s changed post pandemic as a time frame.
