Annoyed Thoughts: archive 1

But I liked it there. It was a cool class.

We have quite a few mom & pop shops with weird hours. I always crave Vietnamese when they’re closed, which is also Sun/Mon/Tues. And we have a dumpling place that’s only open something like 4-9PM Wed-Sat. WTF???

If the weather holds out today, I’m going to go to the Asian/Halal store that has these awesome shrimp and chive dumplings!!! So gooooood!!! :dumpling: :yum:

We have a watch repair shop that is open 10-2 Saturday only. We often wonder what kind of organization they belong to and what kind of money they are laundering being able to rent a strip mall place that is open 4 hours a week.

Oh, we have a psychic in town. She is downtown, it’s pretty expensive real estate. I’ve lived here for over two years and I’ve never seen it open. There is a lot of speculation that perhaps she is wealthy and doesn’t care, maybe money laundering or some other illicit activity. I haven’t met anyone who knows the owner though. It’s weird.

Thinking about a gyro for lunch today.

That hardly seems annoying. More like very tasty.

Maybe it’s a long drive or the parking situation sucks, and that is making this gyro run a real PITA. It can really feel awful if it’s not convenient.

Now I’m annoyed that @JFG isn’t bringing me a gyro

To be fair, the guy might go in and repair watches during other hours and only be available for drop offs and pick ups during those hours.

That way he’s only committed to being there during those 4 hours and he can do the rest whenever he wants.

To your point though, it still seems like a small operation to be renting out a space in the strip mall.

What’s the weather have to do with it?

Annoyed that I ended up having eat-or-toss leftovers instead.

I’d have to get on the highway and there’s a big :peach: storm heading in. I may be in the area tomorrow.

In the meantime, I went to the nearby English deli and got their caramel cheesecake and those awesome, fudgy, soft and yielding brownies without so much as a hint of crunchy edge. @JFG

The woman ahead of me at the fabric shop had a few bolts of fabric to cut. The one she picked didn’t have enough on it for her project, so she left the cutting table, went to browse the fabric selection, and then came back ten minutes later. There was only one person at the cutting table, and a line of people waiting, and it didn’t occur to the woman shopping OR the person cutting the fabric to let someone else go.

The same woman was checking out ahead of me a bit later and WENT TO GO PICK OUT
MORE FABRIC, leaving her husband with the cashier for an eternity. The store was not well staffed, but they at least opened another register.

The woman never once even appeared apologetic for holding up everyone in the store, twice.

This is what I would do -

If she hasn’t the common courtesy to address the people waiting behind her and let them know she has to pick out one more thing, I would move her stuff to one side and start using the cutting table. If she comes back and questions me, I would say “you didn’t say anything so I thought you had finished with it”.

Let her be the angry one.

More and more shows use text message exchanges or IMs as a plot device. But they appear as 5% of the screen. I cant read that shit and end out pausing, going back, standing up closer. Etc. Ugh

Heh, I missed the “Big” reveal on the Sex and the City series finale due to this. You finally find out Mr. Big’s real name when he texts Carrie and his name appears on her phone screen which the audience can see. Except it was hard enough for me to read that the detail went right over my head and when the credits rolled I was thinking “oh, I guess they’re never going to tell us”.

I pieced an entire quilt top in the last two nights, and my neck is now KILLING me, because it was a truly terrible idea, but I’m glad to have it done.

I am definitely going to be taking as much disability as I can (8 weeks), because I have noticed that my recovery is not linear, or one-directional. I feel good and push myself too hard, and then I wake up the next day in so much pain. I will continue to push myself, but I’m glad to be able to rest when I need it.

Nothing as noble as putting together a quilt, but I get neck pain if I look down to do a jigsaw puzzle for too long without a break.

I can get that break if I’m comparing a piece to the picture on the lid. I’ll hold up the lid and jigsaw puzzle piece in each hand, so that my head is looking up.
