My wife should get a colonoscopy, particularly because her mother had colon cancer. Our health care will pay for a colonoscopy now, but will not pay for cologuard (a noninvasive, cheaper option) now. Both will be covered in approximately 10 months because she hits a magical age.
Sometimes it makes me embarrassed to be associated with the insurance industry.
Agree to do the scope ASAP if it’s covered. It’s so easy, I get one every 2 years because of butt disease. But I’d be curious why the doctor doesn’t want it. I am not a licensed MD.
Half my Christmas gifts from Amazon that should have arrived around yesterday/today/tomorrow on the Prime subscription are now arriving around December 27-29, so gifts will trickle in later.
My fault for being lazy. Amazon is doing nothing to compensate for it. I’ve spent far more than my time-value chatting with them, they won’t do anything. Back in the heyday they would give you a free month of Prime or $10-20 credit, but they seem to be cutting costs.
Guessing because the others are less invasive and don’t have the risk of general anesthesia. Maybe the wife has a condition that makes anesthesia extra risky for her.
That said, I believe Lucy’s done a colonoscopy without anesthesia and she said it wasn’t as bad as other procedures that don’t normally require anesthesia. So that might be an option to consider if the anesthesia is the issue.
There’s also the risk of perforation, which I think is greater with a colonoscopy than with other options. Again, there could be a complicating factor making that a bigger problem for Kenny’s wife than for an average person.
Of course I -generally- trust an MD more than myself. (Though I’ve had a few shite MDs that I’ve fired, I’ve had some that were actively dismissive of real things and have been prescribed wildly inappropriate medicine.)
When did viewing a movie become this complicated? My local movie theater offers the following different theater options for the new Avatar release:
2D
VIP 2D
ScreenX 2D
3D
VIP 3D
RPX 3D
IMAX 3D
4DX 3D
Post-pandemic I’m unlikely to ever go a theater anymore.
$15+/person on the low end to cram in with others, could easily be $30+ with food let alone premium theaters with IMAX and alcohol and whatnot.
Or I make a nice dinner at home and rent it online for $5 and pause at my convenience, rewind, adjust the volume, etc. May buy surround sound this year as a splurge. And don’t have to go out and be near others!
I rarely go to movie theaters anymore either. However, I do make exceptions for movies that I think will be particularly spectacular on a big screen. I’ve seen maybe 4 or 5 movies in the theater in the last 10 years, and none since COVID.
This.
Most of us I assume have some giant home tv with decent sound. Rent it on a streaming service, watch it with some family, make some popcorn. Voila. Comfy couches, dog’s happy, and we can talk.
I’m trying to get Bullet Train organized if I can ever nail my kids down to a date.
I stepped in my glasses and broke the frames in half!!! Tried to fix it with crazy glue. That did NOT work and also got crazy glue on the glass and im away in another state and blind. This is terrible! I also loved those glasses!
Mostly not interested in going to a movie theater anymore, especially since my favorite one went belly up during the pandemic. (Used to be able to get $9.50 matinee tickets IIRC, and go on a weekday when we’d basically have the place to ourselves.)
But I did splurge to see Maverick on the big screen. That’s the only movie I’ve seen in the theater post-pandemic.
I’ve been to the movie theater 39 times since the pandemic hit, although the first venture out was not until May 2021. We go at off times to avoid crowds. Often go on Tuesdays to get the $5 tickets. We don’t like to wait to see movies, so if we rent, they are usually about $20, cheaper to see at the theater 5 miles down the road. We rarely get food/drink at the theaters. What we miss at the theater is the closed captioning we use at home.
We have a local indie theater that I do like. It was built a century ago and it’s something like $6 and they play some interesting shows. And on Tuesday it’s BOGO on tickets.
Otherwise, not a huge fan of theaters for the same reason as others here. Would rather watch it at home where the sound system is better. Speaking of, I’ve got three 18" subwoofers en route to my house now.
