Annoyed Thoughts: archive 1

Stormy weather came through the area tonight. That’s not the annoying part. The annoying part was all of the alerts that I received. But it’s not the alerts per se it’s that within them the time was labeled “CST”.

Um people still have high school reunions? What’s the point when you can just stalk everyone on social media to see what they are up to?

This year would be a big one for mine, but nobody cared to organize a reunion just like nobody cared to do it any other year.

There is no way in hell I’d go, and if I did I’d probably get drunk and mock the jackass who died skydiving, and then I’d wind up with acid reflux for life and curse the people from high school for making me get drunk to deal with them…but there is no reunion anyway.

You could organize one!

My class did one shortly before the pandemic. I almost didn’t hear about it, because they organized exclusively on Facebook, and I’m mostly off Facebook. But I happened to see it, like, a day before it happened, after I had other plans. So I stopped by after my other plans.

I’m glad I did, as I was able to have a nice chat with a guy who died of cancer shortly thereafter. He didn’t tell anyone he was dying, but friends tell me he knew, and he went there to say goodbye to people. And without knowing what was up, I did get that vibe from him.

I also learned of a classmate who is now out as a trans woman, which was sort of interesting. Her experiences were pretty different from those of my younger trans friends. And I caught up with a bunch of other people, of course.

I don’t have many friends from high school (and some of the ones I keep in touch with are from other years) but I enjoyed spending two hours with my classmates and catching up.

Yeah, I’ve been to two high school reunions and had fun at both. There’s a reason they’re only every 10 years IMO. That’s often enough, but it’s been fun to see the people who were a big part of my life for four years.

My church youth group had a multi-year reunion this past fall. That was smaller, but even more fun.

I’ve never been to a class reunion. Doubt I’ll ever go, either. Yes, there’s the whole “you can talk to anyone you want on social media” thing, but outside of a small handful of people in my class, I really don’t care to see them.

My college, (which class size was about the same as my HS), went to having three classes do reunions at once. Nice idea since many of us would also have friends in those classes. Except my reunion year would have been 2019 if they hadn’t made the change. I think they did something in 2020, maybe online, but that kind of misses the point. So I guess it’s 2025 for me, if they do them on the 5’s.

If they do it on the 8s, will they also give you traffic and weather together?

wtf did the NAIC just advertise to me on their own website when I was checking the seasoned Moody’s rate

Why would I?

In-home infusion nurse scheduled me for “Tuesday April 6”. I didn’t check the date, just assumed it was Tuesday, got all my shit out for it, IV stand, sharps container, meds, my N95.

April 6 is a Wednesday and I have shit to do then, and the nurse is being snippy with me over her mistake that I didn’t catch. I wasn’t even rude to her. But she did steal a good chunk of my workday for nothing.

Now there’s a good chance I’ll be in a meeting (camera-off) while getting stuck with an IV. That’s happened before but it’s not ideal.

Only invite your friends. leave out all the HS meanies.

i didn’t have a whole lot of friends in high school. there is this one chick who i’m fb friends and she’s even more awesome now than she was in hs. wouldn’t mind hanging out with her, but you don’t need a reunion to plan something with just one person.

for the rest of the class, no desire to ever see them again.

make it an exclusive reunion. Put it out there that “only selective people” are gonna get an invite. Then invite no one. Everyone will feel like they didn’t make the cut and feel jealous of the people who got invited. Unbeknownst to them, it’ll be no one. ha ha ha.

oh, just thought of another chick who i wouldn’t mind seeing who was nice back then. she’s not on fb though, and when convos came up about high school, nobody knows where she is. i wasn’t like bff with her, but always found her nice.

so, reunion of 3!

Oh, we’ll have a big one at my school, and I hope I can go.

Yes, I know what a lot of the people are up to, but I do like most of the folks and it would be fun to party with them

I attend my HS reunions every 5 yrs. private school. I don’t live in the area anymore, so a good chance to chat live with many. I see fb posts and the like from most i really enjoy, but there are others who I enjoy seeing. There are def a few I maybe never need to see again, but they are the relative few.

that’s some dead-on audience targeting right there.

Naic: our own website!

It’s actually a pretty good idea, and impressive that they have implemented the tech to do that.
