Annoyed Thoughts: archive 1

I have a few “down and outers” in my life that I have helped with various issues from time to time. A few of them don’t seem to understand that the reason I can help them is bc I work for a living. They’ll call or text during working hours. One of them called twice today.

Finally got my regular maintenance medication approved. Just a week late… And at least 20 phone calls and several tests. Feeling very unwell but hopeful that will be temporary until medicine kicks in again.

I returned the call when I was off work and she neither answered nor called back. I guess the issue was only important during work hours.

I heated up some chicken soup from frozen in the microwave and I had to use oven mitts to take the bowl out!!! :scream:

…and the soup in the middle of the bowl was still frozen  !!!

Our trash-company-provided recycle bin has a big crack in it, so last week hubby called and they said to leave it at the curb and they’d exchange it for a new one within one week.

So we left it out. All last weekend, including during trick-or-treating. Every time I drive or walk past it I check to see if it’s still the old one or if it’s been replaced.

Today is Day 8 and it still hasn’t been replaced. Call back. Oh, did they say one week? Yeah, no, it’s actually 1-2 weeks. So keep leaving it out as an eyesore for another week.

:grimacing::grimacing::grimacing:

I wonder if they will recycle the recycle bin?

It’s probably made out of non-recyclable plastic #42 or something like that.

Someone used my email address last night to register at dozens of websites all over the world. I got a tremendous number of emails between 11:50pm and 1 am last night, most in foreign languages. Fortunately the vast majority went into my spam folder, but a few slipped past.

something like this happened to my mother. it didn’t go to her spam folder. it went to her inbox. thankfully i think it stopped eventually.

i think it was in english, but it was all jibberish nonsense.

On my walk this afternoon, I saw a couple of dog poop bags left on the ground. Take that :poop: and throw it in your own garbage can, people!!!

If lid was up, this might not be a problem.:dog:

went shopping for a mattress today. how often does anyone do that? anyway, find one we like at mattress king (or whatver big chain). pricing has a deal but when the guy starts telling us what it will cost, all kinds of new math is applied and suddenly it’s like over $4k?

i just kind of put the brakes on, since that was more than double the sticker. it reminded me of buying a phone where the price isn’t ever really the price and everything gets added at the register. tell me the real price up front, please.

I’ve gone to the Original Mattress Factory for my last two mattresses. I’ve been very happy with both the mattress & buying experience. I was shocked to learn that the salespeople work on commission because they were in no way pushy or any of that silly stuff.

According to a generic mattress selling company (different from the OMF), you’re supposed to replace your mattress every 8 years.

Yeah, mattress sales are crooked everywhere. We had a full on bait and switch when we went shopping for kids mattresses. Find a deal, go to have a look, and the mattress was clearly unusable. The sales guy says "yeah, nobody buys that one, let me show you this one over here’. No thanks.
I think the problem is that there’s no rational way to compare mattresses.

It’s like shopping for ice tires. Everyone’s pumping their features, but try and compare two models, and there’s a complete lack of information. Heck, you can’t even compare summer and ice tires. You’d think they’ put out stopping distances or control measures or something.

We have bought our last few mattresses by asking friends for recommendations, trying theirs out, and then buying directly/online. I hate sales people and refuse to deal with them.

It’s the same way we buy cars. We look at inventory before we go, pick out our top 3, and don’t budge from those. I’m a very decisive person, so that helps.

People got so sick of the shenanigans with mattress sales that it opened a window for the online companies. It seemed like overnight there were a large number of competitors in that space, as people were so excited to find decent mattresses at a fixed price.

I am breaking out in cold sores. I suspect it’s related to my booster, as my immune system went a little haywire over the weekend, and I often get cold sores when my immune system is triggered.

Y’all need to just get the Purple mattress. Except holy shit, why are there so many Purple mattresses suddenly… I think I have the Hybrid Premier 3, but I don’t think it had Hybrid in the name when I bought it.

Pro-tip: In addition to the mattress you will also need at least 2 very strong people to carry it upstairs for you. Trust me on this one.

There were several. :frowning:

Wound up bringing home around 20 bottles or wine.

Silver lining.

Room was directly over lobby, floors were thin. Hotel had a bar open until 1 am, patrons spilled into lobby after until 2 am. People opening and closing doors and talking in hallway until around 3 am.

So, not much sleep all weekend.

That sucks, I would’ve asked for another room.

Drunk people are the worst.
