Many years ago, wife enrolled in a few college classes. As we were buying textbooks (off of Amazon) for those classes, a notification appeared saying something along the lines of, “Hey, I see you’re trying to buy textbooks normally associated with college classes. You probably qualify for Amazon Prime Student. Would you like to sign up?” So, we did.
After four years, wife’s eligibility ceased, but older daughter was a college student, so she was able to sign up & we were able to use it as well.
Now, four more years have passed and I have one daughter left, but they seem to have changed the terms & conditions.
For one, just having a .edu address isn’t enough. You need to verify your enrollment.
For two, you don’t necessarily need to be a student. Being 18-24 years old is sufficient…but I can’t tell if, once you become 25 years old, they cancel your primeness or if you can continue to renew it for the full four years. (This isn’t that important since they just bill you one year at a time. The worst thing that happens is you’re not allowed to have the discount sooner rather than later.)
For three, they seem to stress that this membership is for the “student” only. " Prime for Young Adults does not include Household sharing of Prime benefits." I’m wondering if any of you know how strictly & aggressively they enforce that.
With the previous memberships, we’ve openly shared it among our immediate family. I’m thinking that we’ll just put 22yo’s name on all the deliveries if we have to…or suck it up and just give up on prime.
Your thoughts?
