It’s almost like America knows how to do soccer better than those that actually love soccer
“We can see that the quality of the teams is extremely high, and it’s getting higher and higher everywhere in the world. If you don’t give smaller countries the chance to participate in the World Cup, they also lose the incentive to keep improving.”
Hey, they DO get a chance to play in the World Cup. They’re called “qualifiers.”
Early on in scheduling it seemed there were talks about moving game times to morning or late evening in outdoor venues due to extreme temperatures. I’m speculating that was ruled out by FIFA due to lower TV viewers. Everyone knows that Miami in July at peak temperatures is sweddy balls season.
Probably should have used Seattle or Levi for the quarters than Miami.
ARI would have been OK. Not sure if it’s wide enough, though.
LV, too. Thinking everyone would have loved Vegas.
FIFA did release the touch sensor thingy on Saturday.
Alright. So, who are you going to believe, your lying eyes or FIFA??
Well I mean FIFA did nail their pick for the first ever Peace Prize, so why would the ball sensor thingy possibly be not entirely correct?
No surprises there.
Every passing World Cup seems to lead directly to a new generation of South American kids growing up with random professional footballers shoehorned into their names and we’re glad to confirm that the 2026 tournament is no exception.
Fully cementing his place as the viral sensation of the summer, Erling Haaland’s larger-than-life presence at the World Cup has led to a massive influx of babies being named after the vastly popular Norway striker – in Peru, of all places.
According to data released by Peru’s National Registry of Identification and Civil Status (Reniec), a total of 468 children born in the South American nation were named “Haaland” in the wake of Norway’s round of 32 victory over Brazil. Furthermore, 91 newborns were registered with the full “Erling Haaland” moniker.
With over 500 new Haalands being nurtured in Peru, there is a small chance that we will see La Blanquirroja take the World Cup by storm in 2050 by deploying a team of 11 Haalands. Perhaps it’s all part of a grand plan…
It turns out that naming your baby after a soccer star is not an uncommon occurrence in Peru, where there are more than 1,000 Ronaldos, 3,000 Messis and 33,000 Neymars.
OK, Peru.
Interesting proposal: ADG (Attacker, Defender, and Goalkeeper):
1st :![]()
Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllll
it is pretty interesting.
the red card situation is mentioned only wrt defense - what happens to the offense when you get to that spot (and it would be sudden death by then, no?)?
Oh my
Spain in the final. They were outstanding today.
Will it be Argentina or England?
Spain with the demolition job of Le Bleus.
Onto the WC Final.
I prefer Argentina so we can give them an ass whooping.
They deserve one.
There’s ass whooping in soccer…???
Argentina is well known for playing dirty.
Almost as bad as Paraguay.
I guess that’s sort of like excessive flopping.
