2026 FIFA World Cup Discussion

I’m hoping for Canada, Mexico, and Iran to go further than the US, on that basis.

(Shame that Denmark lost to Czechia, for a similar reason).

Does this give the current team an edge?

If one spends one career looking through the rear window to predict the future, I would say yes. It certainly helped in 2002 when they had a rubbish team and made it all the way to the final.

That’s some pretty good magic.

Not changing my prediction. GDR (DRG?) was out of one of the “experts’” top 10, so too bad.

I will agree that the betting public usually knows better. (LEI excluded.)

I finally got my seat assignment for my four Egypt-NZ tickets and was pleasantly surprised! Although they were the lowest category the sightlines are great. First time in this WC process that FIFA hasn’t made me swear.

I refuse to buy any overpriced WC merch.

This is a bit embarrassing for Nike.

And paying a lot to do so!

I haven’t bought any WC merch, and likely won’t. Here’s a good Indy source for unofficial fun jerseys that won’t break the bank:

Yes, Canada is represented and I think their jerseys here are pretty good.

Looks like in NYC, New Jersey-bound commuter trains will be restricted to World Cup use for four hours prior to WC matches.

Socializing costs, privatizing profits. Are we sure they aren’t Americans?

New Jersey wants to one-up Massachusetts:

According to the NYP, the state would lose money if they kept the ticket prices the same due to changing rush hour routes, increased security, and other personnel.

The US is going to severely damage the entire concept of a WC with this garbage.

Or, they will lose a shit-ton of money.

We can only hope that some sanity will return to soccer fans. Oxymoronic, I guess. Important to note that there are not this many insane soccer fans locally, and high prices for everything (and tRump) should lower the number of foreign visitors.

Hey, they are takling a gamble. Let them.
