2026 Bonuses Survey

I guess I could create a poll, but there’s probably 2 pieces to it:

  1. What did you get as a % of your [base?] salary, and
  2. How did this year’s bonus compare to last year’s

That’s messy to do in 1 poll, and 2 arguably clouds the answer - so, comment away and we’ll see if we can structure it in a poll somehow.

I had a pretty good year…

Short-term bonus was 114% of target or 28.5% of base

Last year was about 26% of base

Good year for bonuses. Got 47% of my base, target was 22.5% due to a promotion mid year (it’s 25% now).

Last year bonus was 37% of a pretty significantly lower base, target was 20%.

On a dollars basis, this year’s bonus was around 40% higher than last year’s.

For short-term/annual bonuses, it’s probably a 3-dimensional survey: size of bonus, size of bonus vs target, and comparison to last year.

We had a very good year, and I (finally) delivered a big multi-year project.

Bonus was 60% of base (double the 30% target), vs 1.2ish times target last year.

Man, you guys throwing out some big numbers. My bonus is ~14% of base, which is pretty normal for my company.

Keep in mind, TANSTAAFL.

My base+target bonus is about right given my role and location. If my target bonus seems large…

There’s also a potential bias in who’s going to respond to these surveys. The year where company performance was so lousy that the only reason anything was in the bonus pool was to avoid too many defections, I probably wouldn’t have responded to this thread.

Teeny tiny raise this year of 3%

Bonus was good at 34% of base.

Also got LTIP shares this year worth 10% of base

My bonus has been 10% of base salary as of 12/31 of prior year. That got upped to 15% this year (paid in March 2027).

Individual contributor, non-consulting, for reference.

2.5% bonus, where 2.0% was the company standard in this not-stellar year. Then, they sent me an extra $500 to make it more like 3%.

Smaller $ amount and % than last year. The new salary is more the draw, but I’m really hoping to see more bonus next year.

I’m a gig-guy and I won’t be seeing a raise or bonus. But that’s OK. I get paid enough as is.

The trend I noticed this year was:

Larger pay increases for lower grades
Smaller pay increases for higher grades

Variable pay based on performance increased for higher grades BUT with more categories (so effectively there are more bonus tiers which generally means lower bonus payouts compared to previous years).

Definitely get the feeling that they are clamping down on expenses this year.

~30% with a target of 25%. Last year was quite a bit higher, but this year is more typical.
