Yeah, Fernando gets in it would largely be on the fame of Fernando Mania and not his overall stats as a pitcher which were good but not really Hall of Fame worthy in either his peak or length of career.
I mean look at a reasonable contemporary of his Dave Steib

I don’t usually hear about Steib as a likely HoF candidate.
I would support his nomination. He played on such terrible Jays teams early in his career but still put up good numbers. And a trivia fact: who else had back to back starts where he had a no-hitter spoiled with two outs in the ninth? But I am biased as I loved the guy.

“White Sox co-owner Justin Ishbia meets Pope Leo XIV - and invites him to throw first pitch at new statium”
and, of course, “to bless the stadium”.
BTW, you know how they list the section headings above each story - health, sports, HS basketball, etc? This one was listed under “POPE LEO XIV”. He gets his own section. Nice.

I did notice that parallel to 1994…..
I think the players will be willing to have a cap, as long as they also put in a floor. Too many teams just won’t spend money, and that causes the most harm to players.
