2025 MLB Baseball Thread

There were 3 World Series that went more than 7 games - they were best of 9, but went 8 games. 1903, 1919, and 1921. In 1919, one game had a 10th inning, so I guess that would be it. 73 innings.

I tuned in in the 11th and then watched to the end. tired today

Awesome game! Too many records set to list here.

Not thrilled about the outcome though: a Canadian ending it does not make me feel any better about the Jays’ loss. On the other hand, maybe Freeman’s homer was a mercy killing.

That play in the 2nd inning where the BJs assumed the pitch was ball 4 and got picked off was wild. Terrible strike call. I couldn’t tell if it was a late call or if the players just couldn’t believe it was called a strike.

When that happened I figured that could be the difference in the game. Huge call that changed the trajectory of the game imo. Toronto would have scored at least one run that inning if they call a ball there. Strike zone seemed abnormally wide last night.

Congrats to the dodgers though. Epic game!

Totally agree. That was a turning point. Bizarre play.

There were some great plays as well. Both teams threw out runners at the plate on brilliant throws.

Too bad they ejected Ohtani for Unnecessary Greatness. Everyone could have gone home sooner otherwise.

Will be interesting to see whether Ohtani is less effective pitching today after playing 18 inning game. Of course, taking intentional walks may not be tiring.

Didn’t Beiber warm up in the 17th? I know Yamamoto got hot in the 18th and was ready to come in. But it was probably his throw day and shouldn’t effect his G5 start. Bieber on the other hand is coming back from TJS and might feel the effects today.

I don’t know who they considered player of the game, but my vote would go to Edman for all the defensive plays he made.

He made one really good play and one good throw. But he also had an error than led to 2 Blue Jay Runs and went 1-8 at the plate.

But I think POG had to be Ohtahni - 4-4 with 5 BBs, 2 HR including the game tying one. Honorable mention probably goes to Klien who got the win with 4 innings of SO ball. He’d never thrown more than 2 IP in any MLB outing before yesterday.

And didn’t make…

This is Bonds-on-Steroids level of respect:

I recall Bonds being walked with the bases loaded late in a game. Let’s see if that happens.
Dude also strikes out a lot.

Just found out that Weaselette was able to score a pair of tickets to tonight’s game. Finally her crappy corporate job comes through with some perks! We’re on the 3rd base side pretty low down. I think it’s the shady side so that’s a relief. It’s in the 90’s there today.

Lucky!
I’m a Dodgers fan - my dad grew up in Brooklyn, and rooted for them. He raised me and my siblings to root for the Dodgers and to hate the Yankees.
Last year, when the Dodgers were up 3-0, prices at Yankee Stadium dropped a lot, and I took my dad to a game. Too bad we picked game 4, the only game LA lost. Still, going to a World Series game is a great experience!

Nice!
I’ll look for you, seeing as you’re pretty tall.

Mid to high 90’s right now.

I’m jealous! I had recently graduated college when the White Sox were in the WS (2005) and couldn’t afford tickets. Will probably be dead before they make it back (hopefully of old age).

I recorded and started watching 2.5- 3 hours after it started without looking at what was going on live and then fell asleep sometime after it was tied up in the 7th but before the 9th I’m pretty sure. I’m sure my recording didn’t get all of the game so not sure what I could do to watch what I missed. Darn.

One of the only good things about YouTubeTV versus the technologically superior TiVo, and I don’t even know how it does it: It holds whole sporting matches to their end. NHL playoffs? No problem., College Football OTs? No problem. Downside is that it does not hold any time after the end, so if watching the “recording” (housed in a “library”) you know when it will end, if not the exact outcome.
