So, the 12 owners of my league are planning a Vegas trip first week of NFL to celebrate 40 years of the league’s existence.
There are special rules for drafting someone who’s already played that I won’t get into. Suffice it to say, no surprise injuries with a two-week gap.
Another downside is that my brother, the commish, has to enter each player by hand into ESPN before the morning games, since we allow teams to trade future draft picks, and ESPN cannot abide. And that requires some level of sobriety.
Anywho, we will all be together and that’s what’s important. Now to “cheap-actuary” a suite or a VRBO…
We always stay at Venetian when we go for March Madness. Their sports book is great and it’s a centralized location. Our group is only 4-6 people though so not sure what they have for a big group.
I’m not sure who to take at the #5 pick. Chase, bijan and lamb will definitely be gone. i have some intel that #4 may go with CMC but i assume he’ll go gibbs. How do you guys feel about Jefferson?
Our league rules:
- less weight to yards (1 per 15 for RB, 1 per 20 for TE and 1 per 25 for WR)
- bonus points for long rushing / receiving TDs (+1 for >20 yd, +2 for >40, etc)
- 1 point at 5 receptions (4 for TEs) and a bonus point for each 2 after that (i.e. 9 receptions = 3 pts total)
- Starting rosters are 1 QB, 2 RB, 1 RB/WR Flex, 2 WR, 2 TE/WR flex, 1 DST, 0 kicker. It’s pretty common to see teams starting 4 or even 5 WR so they’re at a bit of a premium.
Cant go wrong with barkley
I’m picking 7 tonight. I will likely have the tough decision if Run CMC is on the board. IFF he’s healthy all year he’s monster in this league’s scoring format. If he has injury issues again it’s a huge hit to lose your top pick.
For RBs: find the shitty QBs. More running on those teams. Those teams SHOULD be run-heavy, getting appropriate O-Line players.
What do I know? I’ve only won one season, out of five. (I was a replacement owner.)
I did have the chance to draft CMC but passed. My plan was that if any of the projected top 6 fell to me I would take them, and one did. Took Lamb at 7 with mint jelly.
Barkley and Lamb were gone, so I went with Gibbs at 5.
Our first round
- Chase
- Bijan
- Saquon
- Lamb
- Gibbs
- Henry
- CMC
- Jefferson
- St Brown
- Collins
- Nabers
- Jeanty
I probably would have done the same in your league. Since I picked at 7, I would have taken Jefferson in your league.
Just held our live lottery last night. I have the 9th of 12. Will draft live in Vegas on 9/6.
Special rules (more chances in the lottery for not making playoffs last year and attendance at the lottery) require a manually-entered draft order.
Special rules (can trade future draft picks) require a manually-entered draft.
Picked up a tenderloin at the meat market. Turned out pretty good.
Dang, you guys don’t mess around
Drafting right now, live
Bit of a slog.
My stupid draft paper didn’t have enough kickers.
So, i picked up Boswell this morning.
Oh, I got an F on my draft, according to ESPN, possibly because I didn’t pick a K until the morning. I ended up losing by 0.2 points.
The loser of our league has to organize everything the following year. I was about to get my first win until that last minute TD by Mark Andrews. Brutal year for me so far.
0-3 among my Division.
Time to start selling what little I got. (We can trade future draft picks along with players.)
that last TD had me lose by 2. (opponent had jackson) I was left wondering if an INT on the 2-pt try would count as an INT. or then spun to “if BAL gets the onside kick and then they throw an INT…” gamblers must really love misery.
on the plus side, my 2 teams are doing well. I am 1-2 (while leading in points) and 3-0 (2nd in points).
