2025-26 English Premier League discussion

They must go BIG, also when they did go BIG that didn’t count.

Klopp won’t take it. Ancelotti not available. That leaves Zidane and perhaps Southgate as top manager not currently tied down. Or try to bring in Enrique.

That noted, the manager hadn’t been biggest problem. The players they bring in don’t match manager. Bruno Fernandes as a captain is ludicrous. He’s a chippy, selfish player. Yes, he has talent. But he’s no ManU leader.

I think they bring in a temp, then take one of the WC coaches. Poch will wanting to leave his no-win job for meaningful potential trophies.

Whoever comes in will want a major say in players brought in. Doesn’t seem that any manager/coach since Sir Alex has had a say. And it’s one thing to bring in obvious superstars: just pay more. Finding hidden jewels is entirely different. That takes work and an eye for talent.

Seemed doomed from the start. And it is a club problem (IMO).

There is zero chance of Zidane taking on the role.

Even less of a chance with Luis Enrique.

Man U is a poisoned chalice and every major manager knows this now. They will only get a second rate manager to sign on the dotted line.

I don’t think any of those coaches would go, but they are really only bigs outside of Klopp that could go. He wouldn’t leave Uruguay, but having Bielsa back would be awesome. Manu would likely score some goals and be more fun to watch.

If I were betting, i would bet Maresca w longer odds than Glasner. At year end, Eddie Howe might be available. Their management is awful for any coach (not manager anymore at ManU).

Carrick is the choice.

This article misses the whole boat:

Re MCI:

Outside of riding the randomness inherent with trying to kick a soccer ball, it seems like City have two paths toward catching Arsenal: (1) Erling Haaland goes on a finishing hot streak, or (2) Rodri’s legs come back as he starts to play more matches.

No: ARS are up six points. ARS have to lose two more matches (or tie six more matches, or some combo) than MCI do. This is paramount. How well Haaland or Rodri do is insufficient. ARS need to drop points.

Old-man beer league will come calling.

WHU goes Spursy this morning.

As did MCI and Man U. And Spurs!

Wow, LIV-MCI !!
Can’t believe I sat through 15 minutes of action over 4 hours, then came home to watch this non-stop action for over 100 minutes!

Learned something new about DOGSO + Advantage not occurring.

Hey, what is this "NBC Sports Network?
I guess matches aren’t being shown on NBC or USA, so voila, new/old network back on for a few weeks.
Matches were shown delayed, 10 minutes or less for halftime.

ARS “drop” more points today in a match scheduled for the EFL Cup final.
If MCI can win matches, that would be great, for MCI.

Not sure what Leeds United Coach is going to appeal for his send-off. Right there in the LOTG, available online for anyone to read, especially those in the profession:

Law 12, page 120:

Sending-off offenses include:

entering the field of play to confront a match official (including at half-time and full-time)

And his stride was unambiguous
