Go up 28-0, fall flat on face.
This is the most bizarre college football game Iâve seen in a long, long time.
Very exciting game. Both UGA and ALA played their hearts out. Ryan Williams is crazy good.
There is no âamateurâ sport anywhere that begins to compare with US college football in either enthusiasm or size. I have always been amazed by its popularity given the size of college sports in other countries. Clearly an example of US exceptionalism. Whether that is good or bad has been debated in other threads.
yeah. i was only comparing w numbers to explain the traffic.
The 2 big power conferences want to team up and flex their collective muscle:
I would love for them to line up the results of the prior season and have the teams play the team next to them.
But, Iâm guessing they will simply let tOSU play Vandy and Bama play Rutgers.
How many âautomatic bidsâ do they want? (readsâŠ) FOUR EACH?? How about just earning them?
Also, they should know that they donât have to have a conference championship game that could conceivably drop a team out of the CFP.
Perhaps they should meet with the Rose Bowl people and declare that the Rose Bowl game (and parade) will feature the Big 10 champ versus the SEC champ, and Fuh-get the rest.
Thatâs how the Big10-ACC basketball challenge worked. It makes sense for these two leagues to play each other to bolster their respective schedules. It would kinda be boring to watch an annual 'Bama-tOSU game every year, though.
Seems like âmanifest destinyâ doesnât it?
Interestingly, Navy is in the upper division and Army and Air Force are indicated as (permanent?) âPlay Upâ teams but they arenât listed in either section. Plus there seems to be one other as the 64 team lower division only shows 61 teams which if you add Army and Air Force gets you to 63.
I was really hoping like @dr_t_non-fan wishes there were promotion/relegation rules included. But I canât imagine any of the 72 upper division agreeing to that. Otherwise, Vandy would be going down pretty fast and may never make it back.
Maybe they can stick to academics instead.
With this many teams pro/rel is the answer to having competitive matches, even though the teams will be very different year to year. But, based on the choices the teams make regarding their opponents, that seems the last thing theyâd want to do. As everyone should know, this is a dangerous sport. The less competition, the better. The fewer plays run, the better.
I wonder if this Super League (SL) decides to tell the NCAA that SL Football is not longer under the purview of the NCAA and the league will decide on its own rules about paying players.
I can see the NFL becoming interested in this.
After Week 5
Big10 - 4 teams (Mich, tOSU, OR, PS ) [though currently Indiana is in 1st place]
SEC - 6 Teams (TX, AL, MO, TN, LSU, GA )
ACC - 1 (Miami)
Big 12 - 1 (IA State)
And Yes, 3rd and 4th places in the Big10 and SEC look like great spots to be in
Curious how youâre ranking teams within a conference?
Actual standings? TX A&M is 2-0!! UGA is ted for 7th!
AP/Coaches Rankings? Ole Miss is ranked higher than LSU.
Or Just your picks?
Makes no difference which teams at the moment. There will be clashes among these teams, and some will drop off, others will take their place.
That is the beauty of the GoA Ranking System.
If DP is bastardizing the concept, then fie on him!
Iâm bastardizing the concept. So sue me.
Donât read anything into the order that I have teams listed within a conference. Itâs stream of thought on the 4 or 6 teams that I think will ultimately rep the 2 Power âPower 4â conferences.
The shocking point I was really trying to make was 10 teams of 12 will be from B10 and SEC.
My favorite teams include : IA State, Miami, any Big 10 school besides Michigan, anyone playing against Michigan, and anyone playing against Notre Dame. (When ND plays Mich I just hope for many severe injuries and a season disruptive 56-56 tie.)
I shall only fie you.
Top non-Power 4 team will also get a spot. So, probably only 5 SEC spots, though the fifth team might have 3 losses.
I donât know what this means, but whatevsâŠ
Does this mean you want to stab me with a sword?
paraphrasing: âYou can stab me with your steely knives, but you just canât kill the beastâ
Is this in the rules or are you speculating?
Edited to add:
Yeah, it seems to be the top 5 rated conference champions, which, given the demise of the Pac 10 12, means the Mountain West Champ it seems
