Flames will finish close though. Only one of Canucks/Flames can probably make post-season. Blues best positioned though to grab that last spot unless Canucks can beat them tomorrow night.

You found something that the players care about. Next year donât even bother having an All-Star Break or game. Just send the players on an erotic journey from Milan to Minsk or wherever.
If the two teams end up level on points, right now the Blues have the tiebreak (equal on regulation wins, equal on non-shootout wins, St. Louis up on total wins). Given remaining schedules, Vancouver needs to not just win, but win it in regulation. It would also help if they end up having go go down the tiebreak list with the Blues.
And I wouldnât necessarily count Calgary out. Not the easiest closing schedule either, but with Minnesota stuck in the mud and no sign of Kaprizov coming back itâs not unthinkable that the Wild fall toward the cut line even being 8 points up with 14 to play.
Kings just won back-to-back 7-2 games over the weekend. Granted they were at home, so a slight advantage relative to two on the road.
I am now counting the Canucks out though. They have just blown too many leads this year. Blues are certainly in the driverâs seat for the last playoff spot.

But yeah the Canucks are in trouble. Their last minute goal turned shootout win @ NJ saved their hopes momentarily but still looking bleak.
The countdown for Ovechkin is officially on. 11 games left, and itâs 4 goals for 40, 5 goals to tie Gretzky, 6 to achieve immortality.
And Senators should make playoffs giving him more goal scoring opportunities.
As mentioned before, I feel zero remorse if Gretzkyâs record is broken by a Russian player.

That was one record that I thought would never be broken.
I didnât think it would be broken unless we saw a return to 80s-style scoring.
Gretzkyâs point total? McDavid is currently 3rd all-time in points per game (1.521) and has a great shot at 2,000 points, and I might bet he still doesnât get within 500 of Gretzky.

Thereâs no way this Blues team keeps this shit up.
I know, I know, but 2019. I know, theyâve won 9 in a row. Theyâre feasting on lousy competition, Colorado half-assed yesterday and then when they wanted to get after it Binnington stumped them. Theyâre not going to get that luck in the playoffs, whoever they end up with is going to crank the intensity to 11 and the lack of depth is going to show.
Oh, and Ovechkin gets #36 for the season, #890 overall.

Ref glitch in the 3rd. LAK Anderson gets two penalties, while a SJ player gets one.
SJ goes on the PP immediately, but LAK donât put a second man in the box. So two minutes pass, and the SJ player canât come out, and the LAK are still down a man. Only 20 seconds or so.
There are a few ways to make this work, probably only one correct way:
- LAK puts two men in the box, and SJ gets an immediate PP. Anderson stays for 4, and SJ player comes out at first stoppage after 2.
- LAK puts two in the box, teams play 4v4 for 2 minutes. SJ player comes out after 2 and the PP ensues. Second LAK player comes out at first stoppage after 2 and is eligible to play.
- LAK put three in the box, teams play 4v3 for two minutes, then play returns to 5v5 while Anderson stays in for 4.
First one is what should have happened. Third one is a little more goal-scoring.
Meanwhile a lady behind the LAK bench had a nip slip. More than I can say for The White Lotus so far.
Calgary with a huge win @ Colorado last night. Can they catch St Louis or Minnesota? Vancouver is likely going to need to finish 7-1-0 or something like that to have a chance at this point.
In the east, while Iâm still a bit hesitant to say it, I think New Jersey and Ottawa have secured playoff spots. Though I think they both have the potential to bomb out the rest of the season.
That means it comes down to Montreal, New York R, New York I, Columbus, and Detroit for the final spot. Of those teams, Montreal has the best record in their last 10 (4-3-3, yikes these teams are mid)

#891 overall, #322 on the power play. The power play goals alone would be 205th all-time, the next one would move into a tie for 200th.
8 games to do it this season. If not this off season will have another talking point. And the schedule release will be big news.

St. Louis with W10 now. Apparently they have a voodoo doll theyâre rallying around, which is the only explanation for them winning 10 in a row. [Well, that and a fairly weak schedule with a couple unexpected wins.] They now sit 5 back of Colorado, meaning 3rd in the Central isnât completely out of reach but theyâd have to beat the Avs outright on points as Colorado holds the 1st tiebreak.
Calgaryâs loss last night to Utah significantly hampers its playoff chances. Los Angeles wins to stay ahead of Edmonton and maintain a slight hope for claiming the division.
