2024-25 NCAA Women's College Basketball Discussion

OK, Marchess Madness is here! No thread on this until now, shows the interest.

The one thing I’d like to point out is that it’s cool that there are only two locations for the Sweet Sixteen games. If you really like Women’s College B-Ball, and want to watch it live, you get 6 games over four days of teams that have already won twice. Not bad.

No Reese vs Clark drama…

I haven’t seen a lot of games but I did watch this one (on tv) back in 2017, where the smallest player on the court snapped UConn’s 111 game winning streak

Amazingly, UConn has not been in the final since. I’m backing them to win this year after watching them demolish South Carolina a few weeks ago. It’s also Paige Bueckers last year.

JuJu out. It is UCLA’s to lose.
Will report back on April 6 when it’s all over. Might merge all “Women’s Basketball” into one thread, as the popularity level is not worth three separate threads.

How close is a chalk bracket here?

Since USC lost the best player I would say the odds are for UConn to stop that from happening.

Well, my bracket would say.

Chalk bracket for men’s would give 1050 points at this stage (using espn scoring) and 1060 for women’s. That is the 92.7 percentile for men and 85.7 for women. I’m guessing the chalk bracket is higher than the historical average given that 7 out of the 8 number 1 seeds made the final 4.

Chalk brackets at the same stage (after the elite 8) in previous years were
M24 730 points
W24 890
M23 470
W23 810

Was it a fluke that UConn blew out South Carolina earlier in the year?

No, no it was not. I think if UConn wanted to, it could top the 33-point margin of victory it put up in 2013.
