2024-25 NBA Thread: Win 60+ games, fall flat on face (x2)?

Change free throws to 2 points regular shots to 3 and beyond some line 4 points. Problem solved.

I’m guessing he is looking to lighten the load so load management means less and the stars will play all 82 games. Making intermissions longer would increase revenue so that might be good for them as well.

Fewer back-to-back’s on the road would help. Make teams play at home back-to-back instead. Have the home team’s fans miss a star player for a game.

Same things I’d propose for the NHL:

  • 4 games in 6 days prohibited
  • 3 games in 4 days only if required due to rescheduling
  • Back-to-back has a limit on distance between sites

That might length the schedule a touch, but it should also eliminate “you don’t play for 5 days, then play 13 in 22” type stuff.

What was Dallas thinking…make it make sense.

LA seems to be miles ahead in this deal.

I’ll look deeper, but getting rid of AD was a good thing for LAL. Great to have a superstar but he gets hurt so easily. Better to have a superstar that doesn’t hurt so easily. Disclaimer: I have not researched Doncic’s history, nor how to add those types of accents on top of letters.

Doncic is currently injured and his contract expires at the end of the year.

“Luka Doncic” isn’t a pronounceable name in Texas. This trade makes perfect sense.

Sure. But he is only 25 and is clearly in his prime.

You can argue his D sucks (it does) but offensively, he is phenomenal.

So they are trading a 25 year old offensive star for a 31 year old defensive star (who is also injury prone).

Makes no sense to me.

Me neither, but maybe, given the history with the owners and Doncic they did not want to end up like the Islanders not trading Taveres.

Kudos to ESPN for matching the score bug with the day’s uniforms.

So, if the score bug gets really good, does it become a score feature?

Luka would’ve gotten a half-Ohtani deal at 265+ lbs. when he is motivated to play for a contract. He’s only made it to 70 games once. And this deal gets them under the cap and keeps them in play short-term. It makes sense from a business standpoint… but man there’s a lot of Luka jerseys in the crowd every game.

Why I haven’t bought a player jersey in any sport since I became an adult

I’ve never been a “jersey guy” (despite growing up in NJ), but my family gifted me my first this Christmas…a Jason Kelce jersey! Works for me as I don’t think he’ll end up playing for a different team!

Luka lost a lot. He loses over $100M on super max AND has to pay more than 12% in state income tax.
