Just realised one thing if the shutdown goes ahead.
How would they collect the tariffs from imports if the government is shut down?
During a shutdown, various “essential” operations stay open, the definition of which is largely up to the administration.

The DoE had recommended a nice nonpartisan ooo email message for everyone. Then the government changed everyone’s away message to blaming Democrats. Repeatedly.
Probably belongs in the authoritarian thread though nice to post elsewhere sometimes.
Isn’t it great how comfortable The Republicans and Trump feel about blatantly lying to the American people. They know the news media is so controlled by kindly like minded rich folk that as long as their behavior does not interfere with the fascist agenda they can do it.

At the start of the shut down, tapping the contingency reserve for SNAP was the USDA’s own plan. They quietly deleted that from the website once Trump decided on hunger as a policy choice.
Maybe we’ll find out if we really are 3 meals away from revolution.
