2020, er, 2021 Euro's

Soccer fans can overdose today. In addition to Euro 2020 and Copa America, MLS has a full slate of games. 20 games to choose from through my providers but everything pales compared to Group F games today. Would like England-Germany in next round.

England is in serious trouble, but to win you have to beat the team in front of you whether in the final or round of 16. Havertz and Dias are 2 potential players that could be lost on YCs. I feel Portugal is the worst match up for England. Don’t like that English back line against Ronaldo, Jota, Silva and Fernandes.

Looking forward to today’s games.

Hey now we’ve got some talent. It just depends whether you get the first 15 minutes against Czech or the last 75.

He barely got the ball at all imo, I think that was the right call in POR-FRA

Presume you’re referring to the Portugal penalty kick and not the later French penalty kick which was a pretty dubious foul imo

Yeah the second penalty was very light, mere shoulder to shoulder and he goes down because he’s in the box, no way that’s a penalty.

Agree with the opinions here. 1st penalty probably good call. 2nd penalty bad call.

The rules on handballs need reviewing…

It’s tough, this is why defenders often holds their hands behind their back

By the sounds of things I should be watching the Hungary match instead

Yeah. It’s the correct call within the rules given his arm was above his shoulder I think, I just don’t like the rule. If it’s kicked into him in a reasonably natural position I don’t think it should be called.

Wow, OK this is the right game

This is wild, Hungary Portugal and Germany all hanging by a thread. Germany with the short straw at the moment but any goal can change things.

Germany equalize. Hungary out as of now. 89th minute.

It was too good to be true I think

Yeah, I switched over to Hun-Ger after the half as I want to see in real time if England gets a shot against the Germans in the next round.

Germany in, Hungary out. It’s official.

A goal in the France/Portugal game can still move the group standings around

Portugal-Belgium next week should be a great game.

That was not a reasonably natural position. He has many choices for where to put his arm. That choice was poor.
The New Laws are supposed to take into account more lenient places for hands while one is naturally running or leaping. This French player’s actions do not qualify.
And I say this rooting for France in that match.

Agree to disagree. Outstretching arms against the momentum of the upper torso leaning the opposite direction is natural to maintaining balance. Could he have made a conscious choice to do otherwise? Yes. But I don’t like the requirement to sacrifice the defensive position on the fly like that. Had he stuck his arm out to swipe at the ball then that’s obvious, but in this specific case I just didn’t like it.
