Wow!
That was awesome!
Next season’s hopes still alive.
What was funny about this for me was reaction from ManU friends who were putting forth arguments about West Brom being a relegation team. So what. That goal will live in history.
Second funny part was I was on course today when it happened. When I look at straka line to putt, the telecast goes off so when I click back into the app, it losses a little time. At my 93’ we were waiting in fairway when I got a text from my mom “OMG!” Where they were, first thought was “how could they lose this” but then WOW.
I will do my dr-t imitation and provide a couple of desirable outcomes for the league, not a fan or team in particular:
Leiceister 66 pts draws w Chelsea - 67 pts
Chelsea 64 pts. draws w Lei - 65 pts
Liverpool 63 pts draw w Burnley - 64 pts
Spurs (AV) and West Ham (WB) 59 pts. both win - 62 pts
Up to 5 teams compete for 2 spaces (west Ham longshot). On final week,
Leicester needs draw vs Spurs or Liverpool non-win
Chelsea needs win v AV, or draw and Liverpool non-win
Liverpool need win v CP and either Chelsea or Leicester non-win
Spurs need a win v Leicester, Chelsea loss and Liverpool non-win (GD w Liv open, will beat Che)
West Ham would need 5-6 goal wins
A Leicester win instead of Chelsea win changes things since that clinches for Leicester but would leave 4 teams for 1 spot. It moves losses for others into play. If West Ham gets to 65, they could make it.
Rooting for a Leicester-Chelsea draw and Liverpool 4-0 win and a Spurs loss to AV, Everton draw, Arsenal win and Leeds win so Spurs play guts out vs. Leicester. Lots of action coming this week.
Cherries and Swans 1 game closer to glory.
OK, things cleared up and muddied up a bit more.
During the match the announcer noted that Jamie Vardy has (or, is the first person to have?) played in all of the FA Cup rounds.
Spurs and West Hame eliminated from CL. Leeds win keeps pressure on West Ham. A West Ham loss to West Brom would mean Leeds needs goals next week vs West Brom. That would be fun. Weird that West Brom factored so greatly into last 3 games.
I’ll do my imitation of Kid Rock imitating me…
CHE in UCL if:
a) CHE win (at AVL); or
b) CHE draw and LEI do not win; or
c) CHE draw and and LIV lose once or draw twice; or
d) CHE lose and LEI do not win; or
e) CHE lose and LIV lose once or draw twice; or
LIV in UCL if:
a) LIV win two (at BUR, v CRY) and CHE not win; or
b) LIV win two (at BUR, v CRY) and LEI not win; or
c) LIV win one, draw the other, and LEI not win; or
d) LIV win one, draw the other, and CHE lose (LIV holds goals scored tie-breaker over CHE, in the case of One GD matches for each);
e) * LIV win two (at BUR, v CRY) by a total of X GDs and LEI win but by less than X+2.
LEI in UCL if:
a) LIV not win at least once; or
b) LEI win, and LIV not win twice; or
c) LEI win and CHE not win; or
d) LEI draw, CHE lose by at least three goals (LEI hold goals scored tiebreaker by 9 –
see below);
e) * LEI win their one match by two more goals than LIV win their two matches by.
- Crazy Scores alert: If LIV win their matches by a total of 6-4, and LEI win their one match by 3-0, there will be a tie in GD (23) and Goals Scored (69). LIV get the tie-breaker by away goals in their two matches versus LEI (1, versus LEI’s 0).
I think that’s everything.
The three-way tie – CHE lose, LEI draw, LIV wins one, draws one – goes to LIV and:
- CHE, if CHE lose by two or fewer;
- LEI, if CHE lose by four or more;
- LEI, if CHE lose by exactly three and score less than 9 goals (LEI has Goals Scored lead by 9).
- CHE, if CHE lose by exactly three and score more than 9 goals.
- LEI, if CHE lose by exactly 12-9 (LEI holds the tiebreaker for away goals).
Liverpool with 4 in a row and things looking like old times.
Spurs muck it up. Just like old times. Nice race next week for 7th spot with Arsenal, Everton and Spurs. Like that Harry Kane’s last game with Tottenham will have meaning that helps Liverpool.

Spurs at least got to play spoiler today and finished ahead of Arsenal. So many blown games for them this year and Kane is leaving.
Per ESPN: LEI were in the top four for the most days this season, while MCI were in the top four fewer days than MUN and LIV.
During broadcast, I think the stat provided was that over last 2 season Leicester was in Top 4 94% of the time but missed both years.
I heard that as well.
I was away for the weekend, and I recorded four matches, but watched only one.
Probably goes in a new thread, but Brentford came back from 1-0 first leg to beat Bournemouth, then beat Swansea today to get promoted to the EPL!
How did our contest go?
MCI shits the bed v CHE again, third time in six weeks.
MCI played one less match than the max it could this season. (TOT could have played more, but you kinda haveta win the tourney matches.)
I’m probably last…was a bit premature calling it for CHE ![]()
Still I think next season will be a different story!
