well, if he’s on the soa track and takes fap, and if fap is anything like it was prior to them updating it, he will run away in horror. what a clusterfuck that was.

The FAP was a real roadblock for me. Not because it was difficult but because the material was so dull.
I could be nasty about so many things here, but look. I assume the kid’s parents paid for the exams. My parents paid for AP exams, etc. I took exams in things I never even did in college.
Some people like to get into careers that have some good money and don’t consume your entire life. Then you can do other things.
Congrats to Praneet, and yes, it’s a pretty comfy career if you like it.
The exam I failed (old course 5) was replaced by FAP. It was so boring to me.
And yet, now, one of the things I specialize in (for $$) is regulatory aspects of insurance, and it’s fab so few people want to dig into this. ASK ME ABOUT RBC. [no don’t ask me, unless you’re gonna pay me a lot]
Maybe he’s just an FCAS protégé

my job has been consuming my entire life for a while now, but good for those where it doesn’t.
not only that it was dull. it was horribly organized, and the case studies had broken excel spreadsheets, and the small amount of pensions on it was entirely wrong based on the law. FAP came out right before PPA was passed, and instead of updating it they were like ya, we know this isn’t legal, but it still gives you a flavor for pensions.
as a pension actuary, i found it insulting how bad pensions was covered.
the EOM exercises were also dumb.
This. I sometimes regret not becoming a doctor, but I don’t work nearly as hard as doctors do, and I’m pretty happy with my career choices, all in all.
do all doctors work hard? primary care physician doesn’t seem all that much work.
I’m sure it varies, but all the doctors i know work very long hours.
This could be the new Spelling Bee for Indian kids.
Also, how did this become news?
if you become a plastic surgeon in beverly hills, I don’t think you have to work as hard. Also, you might have some tv screen time.
Ooh, I’ll put this on my new actuarial.news site.
nice, the site is up!
Yeah it needs work re: template/theme, but I’m working on that
What is the goal of your new web site?
Do you remember all the watch threads I used to have at the old AO?
That.
It’s mainly for my own external memory (it will be light on P&C, sorry).
