Why is private equity blamed for ruining businesses?

Those dental mills that take over generally suck and tend to push high cost procedures that aren’t neccessarilly needed.

I don’t think that PE is all bad, but obviously I didn’t ultimately like what they did to my dental office. On the plus side, I had a couple cavities filled there and that was a very easy experience. The negatives follow what others have said. They’ve been pushing fluoride treatments pretty hard now at my last visit they wanted to push a cancer screening. They started charging a credit card service fee and they insist that payments are settled on the date of service. Before my last visit they pushed out a revised payment agreement that basically says if their office miscalculates the insurance payment I’m responsible for the balance, no questions asked. The capper is that they want patients to keep a payment card on file so they can push through the aforementioned charges. I paid cash and let them know that I wouldn’t be back.

Unfortunately, these corporate operations are taking over a lot of the market, but there still actual dentist run operations.
