Was firing the best option here?

As long as you are spending your time fruitfully learning things that will be of lasting value then you should be okay. This will naturally lead you to specialize in something and then using managerial skills to fill in the gaps when you lead people who know things that you don’t know. I think if you are twiddling your thumbs that is a problem, but otherwise it is inevitable that there will be large areas of the business that you just aren’t going to be an expert in.

I wouldn’t say more lucrative, but definitely more chill. I don’t do much compared to my data science counterparts.

I always felt once I got to ASA more was expected of me (and those were the days ASA was more of a halfway point)
