Possibly a sustainability move as well. Hosts have to build all of this infrastructure to only be used once or twice. ---

Only friendlies during most international windows. Some stars electing to sit out rather than fly thousands of miles. I hope the September, October, and November windows are friendlies in Europe. not sure whom they can play, as UEFA Nations League will be starting up. CONMBEBOL filled those slots with some of their 18-match WC qualification, The Decagon! Guess they’ll play MEX and CAN over and over and over. ---

I tend not to love the idea of instant replay / VAR in sports, but if it continues to lead to yellow cards for simulation then I’m on board. ---

I will enjoy these games for the excitement they bring not for any local financial benefits. I expect it will be like the Olympics: a blast but a money loser. ---
