Trump touted a sense of “unity” and “love” in a closed-press working session among NATO leaders earlier today, adding that reporters should have been let into the meeting room to witness the “respect” NATO has for America.
“We are so respected as a country,” Trump said. “That’s why I wish I told the secretary-general, Mark, I said, ‘It’s too bad the press could not see what’s happening in this room.’ You saw the big round circle with all of the leaders of all of those countries, and I don’t know. I think they should allow it.”
Trump’s comments came after his renewed demands for U.S. control of Greenland stoked fresh tension with Denmark shortly after the summit began. The president also decried Spain for not agreeing to the defense spending targets he laid out for NATO member countries and invoked new concern among allies over the resumption of full-scale fighting with Iran, adding that the ceasefire is effectively over.
No. And that’s not what he ever does. Understandable mistake, yes. Caught it quickly, if you mean realized he made a mistake, but not if you mean he admitted he made a mistake. But I’ve not see one time where he’s laughed off a mistake. He tried to cover it up and make an excuse, as he always does.
