At least on PC when you highlight text in a post then a little “Quote” pop-up will appear above the highlighted text. If you click that it will open a Reply box pre-populated with the quote (including the attribution, link to the referenced post, etc.). I’m not sure if that works on mobile, though.
You can put [ quote ] and [/ quote ] tags around it.
Ah, thanks!
it’s not super-intuitive, but I really like how quoting works in this software. In particular, multi-quotes are really easy, even on a phone.
I never said my blame was well-placed.
On the topic of toilet seats… Has Hello, My Baby shown up?
And where is a member list to peruse?
Click on the triple-line “hamburger” button in the top right and select “Users”.
Found it!
Aaargh, new stuff.
Another option (if you just want names, and not all the post related stats) is to go to the Summary page of your Preferences (icon menu in the top right), go to the Badges section, click on the Basic badge and then click on the “Others with this badge” button.
Since everyone who jumps through a minimal set of hoops gets that badge that should pretty much be a list of all the members. More complicated, but it does have the advantage of showing when they got the badge, which shouldn’t be too far removed from when they created the account.
There is a poop thread in the Covid-19 area, but it’s all scientific and .
I’m with you on this.
I hate this format. I’m getting used to its limitations.
I think it will be okay eventually. I’m just old, and tbh I’ve been using vbulletin forums for ever and ever. This format is completely different.
I’ve gotten used to it for the most part. I might even almost be at the point where I like it better than the AO format. Still not in love with the quoting process, but I’m getting used to that too.
It’s easier to navigate on a phone than the AO was.
I can’t figure out ow to split a quote so I can respond to different parts. It seems to be possible - other people’s posts suggest so at least. But when I try to insert end quotes and open quotes, it gets all messed up.
It seems like the system is a little wonky, and unlike the old forums the
and
codes must either all be on one line, or each be on their own separate lines.
So
This will work
gives
And
This will work.
gives
But
This doesn’t work.
and
This doesn’t work.
You can use the “select the text and hit the ‘quote’ button that shows up”.
Like that.
It also helps me to think of this as an app, not a website, if that makes sense.

This doesn’t work.
And this doesn’t work either.
Thank you. That really is kind of wonky.
testing
Yep. That works, and it’s also wonky.
Once you start a post, you can also scroll up (and down) the thread do subsequent highlight-quote to insert the “new” quote at the (current) location of the cursor in your (new) post.
You can also go to a completely different thread and find additional things to quote in the same post. And you you click the “Reply” button, it’ll ask you which thread to place the post.
