If you like red wine be sure to try some xinomavro. It has a similar flavor profile to nebbiolo, the most prestigious Italian grape, but being from Greece, it is not as well known. It is generally grown in the northern wine region of Naoussa, near where Alexander the Great came from. I’m sure they’ll have lots of it in the wine stores of Athens.
