Thread where actuaries diagnosis medical issues

I think it’s regardless of how much sleep I get, but my sleep is also compromised right now. I did have the tired issue in the past though where I left my apartment and got enough sleep and still had the issue for a while.

it’s not just “tired”, it’s a pressure on my face and an overwhelming tired feeling on top of that, not just a normal tired.

i’m going to my parents house on wednesday and am going to stay for a week or so.

i put off selling my apartment and now the market is really really bad. i’m not sure if it’s my apartment causing this or wth it is.

I have no experience with that. I’ve been tired for a good 15 years, but not that level of tired. Right now I am tired bc I wake up at 3:30 every morning. Actually I’m feeling less tired right now even though I’m not getting enough sleep. We’ll see how the afternoon goes.

like i’m close to collapsing tired. it’s not normal.

I know it’s no laughing matter, but it made me think of this:

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?

I looked up cfs and i think it has more symptoms. My real only symptom is that im so exhausted that i feel like im going to collapse all the time. Also head pressure but i think that comes with being tired. This head pressure by itself wouldnt bother me

When i was at jury duty back in april, i considered calling 911 it was so bad. I was praising god when i got excused after one day. I dont know i could handle it any more without passing out

IIRC you were tested for the usual suspects: iron deficiency, thyroid (not just TSH but free T4 and free T3, etc.), other hormones, white blood cell count (to rule out infection).

What about vitamin D deficiency?

Also when I was dealing with fatigue previously my dr checked my actual iron & ferritin levels, as opposed to relying on the CBC. My iron was low even though my CBC was in the normal range.

Do you know (via a sleep tracker or testing) if you are actually getting REM sleep? One doctor told me that the reason I am so tired is I am not getting REM sleep bc of the time when I wake up. It might be worthwhile to see a sleep specialist if you can find one that doesn’t focus only on sleep apnea. (I assume you’ve looked into that.)

I went to an endocrinologist, so I think she tested me for all the things related to that.

My white blood cell count was always fine. I think something else was slightly elevated. maybe platelets? I’m forgetting now. It was only slight though.

My vitamin D level was low normal last I checked, which is actually really good for me. I had it dangerously low at some point when I wasn’t having any fatigue issues.

I think iron was fine. I don’t know what ferritin is or what “relying on the CBC” means.

I have not looked into a sleep specialist, but I’m wondering if I need to since nobody can find anything wrong with me. My sleep is definitely compromised in my apartment where upstairs bitch wakes me up before I normally wake up every single morning. When this tired disease is triggered, it always happens in my apartment, but several times I got away from my apartment for a while and it didn’t go away. When it finally does go away, it’s pretty much always when I’m not in my apartment though.

Been going back and forth between my parents house and a friend’s house in another state for a while. Then I’ll be home for a while. Last time I was home for a while, it magically wasn’t triggered at all. This time, I wasn’t as fortunate as it was triggered a little less than 3 weeks after getting back

Is the fitbit sleep tracker any good? I’ll attach it to my wrist tonight. Last time I used it it said my sleep was “fair”. Didn’t know how accurate that is though.

Still wondering if it’s at all possible it’s perimenopause related. Seems like a stretch as most people who have perimenopause symptoms have other symptoms than crushing fatigue, but I’m at the age of perimenopause.

my upstairs neighbor claims that I need to deep clean my apartment. While, I’m not really the neatest person, I really doubt that this is why I feel like I’m going to collapse. I think if something was brewing in my apartment, I’d have other allergy type symptoms and breathing issues, not just crushing fatigue.

her prior “expert” opinion was that it was stress. this is her new expert opinion.

CBC is complete blood count, and among other things it includes a Hemoglobin count, which is often used to diagnose anemia. However my doctor also looked at MCH and MCV to diagnose me once. I have googled these but don’t really understand them. These values are all on the Complete Blood Count or CBC.

When those numbers were normal, my doctor tested iron and ferritin separately. IIRC from recent googling Ferritin has to do with how much iron your body stores.

I’d guess if you looked at your CBC results and your HGB (hemoglobin), MCH, and MCV are all in the middle of the range then it’s probably not iron deficiency. But if they are at the low end it might be worth asking about that.

list of doctors i’ve seen -

  1. primary care physician
  2. ear nose and throat doctor
  3. neurologist
  4. cardiologist
  5. rheumatologist
  6. gynocologist - although, not for this, but I mentioned this to her. she said something like it could be perimenopause related, but if it is, not much you can do about that. maybe i need to message her on the patient portal and show her these hormone tests i got last time this happened which showed my hormones looking normal other than estrogen which seemed shockingly high to me. i should have asked her about that at my appointment, but somehow forgot. the fatigue wasn’t happening then though. also, oddly when i got female hormone levels checked a year prior to that it showed like the complete opposite of this time. a year prior i was clearly perimenopausal. this time, i’m not sure wth it meant. seemed normal fertile other than estrogen which was super high.

i have a follow-up scheduled with the rheumatologist on november 1, but at my original appointment, she seemed doubtful she would find anything and the many blood tests i saw on the portal that i lost track of how many all seemed normal. i’m supposed to be escaping out of the state that week, so i might have to cancel.

I don’t think the fitbit is perfect but look at it over a period of time. Especially if you can see a difference in your apartment vs somewhere else, that could give you a clue about what is happening.

I do believe my issues could be hormone related but I think it could just as easily be thyroid as progesterone.

I am hyperfocusing on this right now. I pulled up all my test results from the last several years and I’ve been looking at how different things change over time. It’s been interesting.

i don’t entirely remember other than not much standing out to me other than platelets. oh and my cholesterol is too high, but that doesn’t cause fatigue.

i got the female hormones checked by my primary care physician’s PA cause i forced her to do it, and then she didn’t understand the results to even tell me what they meant.

Reschedule

annoying thing is it takes months to get an appointment with her. i’ll message her on the portal and see what she would have even done with a follow-up appointment.

looking up iron on a test I took in september, 2021 when I first had this fatigue. First number is my result and then is the range of good. They all look fine to me.

IRON,SERUM 129 ug/dL 37-145

UIBC 183 ug/dL 112-347

IRON BINDING CAPACITY,TOT 312 ug/dL 250-450

IRON % SATURATION 41 % 13-45

those other things you mentioned also look fine -

HEMOGLOBIN 14.5 G/DL 11.9-16.0

HEMATOCRIT 43.7 % 35-47

MCV 94 fL 75-100

MCH 31.3 pg 26.0-33.0

I don’t see “ferritin” on there.

my b12 was low normal. i started taking b12 just as a personal decision. i don’t think it did anything though and i doubt that was my issue.

Yep those look good to me too.

This must all be so frustrating.
