Roberta Flack:

Ms. Flack was an American singer and pianist known for her emotive, genre-blending ballads that spanned R&B, Jazz, Folk music, and pop and contributed to the birth of Quiet storm. Her commercial success included The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, Killing Me Softly with His Song, and Feel Like Makin’ Love. She became the first artist to win the Grammy Award for Record of the Year in consecutive years. The first time ever the Grim Reaper saw her face was on February 24 when she died softly at age 88.

Eleonora Giorgi : DEAD!
Ms. Giorgi was an Italian actress and film director. Giorgi made dozens of films in the 1970s and 1980s, many of which were comedies and erotic films, although she also took on dramatic roles. In 2023 she announced she had pancreatic cancer on television, smiling as she did so and inviting everyone to “live without wasting time”. She died March 3 age 71.

Kind of can’t believe no one had Gene Hackman. I know he was a popular pick elsewhere, but I didn’t take him because he’d been seen recently enough and was in good enough shape that I thought “nope, he’s still got a couple years left.”

Eddie Jordan: DEAD!
Mr. Jordan was an Irish motorsport executive, broadcaster, racing driver and businessman. From 1991 to 2005, Jordan served as founder and team principal of Jordan in Formula One, winning four grands prix in its 15 years in the sport and challenged briefly for the drivers’ championship in 1999, before suffering declining fortunes and being sold in 2005. Jordan later became a television pundit, first for BBC Sport and then for Channel 4, where his outspoken views were paired with an ability to break major news stories. He died of prostate cancer March 20 at age 76.

Steve McMichael: DEAD!
Mr. McMichael was a professional football player and wrestler. He played for 15 seasons primarily for the Chicago Bears, becoming a Chicago icon as part of the Super Bowl XX winning team. After retiring from playing football, he wrestled in World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and was part of The Four Horsemen stable. He also was a regular and Chicago sport radio. In 2021, he was diagnosed with ALS. He died yesterday of the disease at age 67,

Mr. Peters was a Welsh musician, best known as the lead singer of The Alarm. He sang on such tracks as “Strength,” “Sixty Eight Guns,” “Spirit of ’76” and “Rain in the Summertime. He was also the lead vocalist for Big Country. He was co-founder of the Love Hope Strength Foundation. He had been battling chronic lymphocytic leukemia for decades and won’t be answering the Alarm anymore as he died today of blood cancer at age 66.

Ruth Buzzi: DEAD!
Ms. Buzzi was a comedienne working in TV, stage and screen. She is best known from the TV comedy sketch show Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-in from1968 to 1973, for which she won a Golden Globe Award and received five Emmy nominations. She died yesterday of Alzheimers at age 88.
