Didn’t have him here, but did have Jean Marie Le Pen in my other 2 pools.
The bad news is that the money pool runs 1/16 to 12/31, so I didn’t get any points. The good news is that I already won that pool, and this year it runs 1/16-1/15.
Last Friday was the Folk Music Shabbat at my Temple.
The lead singer said he sent the service link to Peter Yarrow (they do know each other)
No idea if he was any state to listen in or if he was did so.
One of my picks here is pretty obscure nationally: Steve McCoy. He was a local radio guy, and is in hospice. I figured nobody would pick him.
I was browsing one of the DDP forums, and one of the big DDP players there mentioned him on 1/1. It made me wonder if he is browsing our forum, as that’s a pretty obscure name to get noticed by someone in a UK based pool. He didn’t use him due to fear of no qualifying obit there, and I didn’t either for the same reason.
Still interested in opinions if anyone wants to volunteer any. Others I am considering including but debating on the QO:
Jonathan Clements, finance writer (not eligible here due to no wiki). I feel pretty certain WSJ and Yahoo will pick him up, but those don’t qualify. He might get picked up elsewhere.
Mary Schmucker, Breaking Amish. I think she will get picked up by a celebrity site for a QO

Ms. Nolan was an Irish singer, actress and television personality. She attained fame as a member of the girl group The Nolans in 1974, along with her sisters Anne, Denise, Maureen, Bernie and Coleen. As a member of the Nolans, Linda toured with Frank Sinatra in 1975, won the Tokyo Music Festival in 1981, and had seven UK top 20 hits between 1979 and 1982.
She supported Gene Pitney on his 1984 UK tour. She then went on to perform in theatre, including an eight-season residency as Maggie May on Blackpool’s Central Pier (1986–1993), performing over 1,000 performances, followed by two seasons as Rosie O’Grady on Blackpool’s South Pier (1994–1995). She reunited with The Nolans for the 2009 I’m in the Mood Again album and tour, and in 2014, she took part in the 13th series of Celebrity Big Brother. In 2018, she was a recurring guest panelist on Loose Women. She died January 15 at the age of 65.
Ted_Hoffman moves into first place with a second hit. Hotkarl also has a second hit to take sole position of second place. PatientZombie, Macroman, Ezekial_Cumberland and Maphistos_Sidekick also score.
There’s a new picture of Steve McMichael floating around on social media. He looks awful, but frankly no worse than what they rolled out for his HOF ceremony last year.
I was going to put him on my 2025 list, but I had him on my 2024 list figuring he’d drop after the HOF induction. When he didn’t go shortly after, then I was OK, he’s going to hang on for a while and took him off completely.
On the other hand, we’re only 15 days in and it seems like it’s been a pretty active celebrity death list. This is starting to get 2016-type potential.
