No, it’s 9/16. Labor day weekend is always crazy in ATL, with both Dragon Con and the start of college football season with the Chick Fil A kickoff classic. Foo-bah fans and cosplay are everywhere downtown.
It feels a little like I’m the only fan of a MLS team who doesn’t give a crap about Messi or is looking forward to seeing him play.
I suppose it’s easy for me to say, since Miami isn’t even playing Seattle this season.
So, the last bit of El Trafico was free on AppleTV (seems a few are free every week).
Nice that the MLS attendance record was broken, though, to be fair, the Rose Bowl always has fireworks and I think there is always a big crowd.
It is entirely possible that many of the crowd were simply waiting for them. (/s)
I hope LAFC returns the favor, making this the MLS version of “The Friendly Derby.”
Yeah… I saw a highlight from the FC Dallas game this past weekend and it was a packed house. I didn’t even need to look it up, I knew there was a fireworks show post-match.
So, are some teams just gonna throw a shit team together for this “Leagues Cup” debacle?
Yes. Unfortunately that’s been the case for the majority of clubs for USOC, and that will likely continue for leagues cup.
LAFC have it easy, getting two weeks off while the rest fight their way in to the Round of 32.
Alright, pro/rel coming to America… pussy top league excluded.
You know what would be cool? That the USL becomes THE league Americans watch.
Messi’s debut on FoxSports, as it is the Leagues Cup and not MLS/AppleTVSubscriptionOnly (unless you are a season seat holder).
Article about Thierry Henry, from 2014:
Pro Soccer teams in USA not all daisies and roses.
Yeah, who cares about the grass roots? Merit is nothing in USA Soccer, pretty much in every US sport, actually.
If you get injured on an artificial surface, then it was caused by the artificial surface. Sound logic.
Also am I supposed to take an article seriously that calls it “fake grass?”
Maybe Messi will get bored, especially when he realizes there is no way he’ll ever win a Ballon d’Or playing in this league:
Wondering what Miami’s odds of winning this Leagues Cup, and what they were before Messi agreed to come.
Miami can also win the US Open Cup.
3 matches, 5 goals.
Ok, at the Rose Bowl for LAFC v Monterrey
Looks like they only sold one half. Short notice from Tuesday. Six rows from the top.
Gonna attempt a pic.
Review: eh.
Cooler than i expected. Physically.
Post-match, some LAFC fans has an epithet dor the Rose Bowk. Will find out what was happening at BMO Stadium.
The fan club 3252 seemed not to be watching the match. Just singing the whole time, as if willing themselves to believe that this is high-level soccer they are at. Oh well, Messi will have to wait a few more weeks to thrash LAFC.
It seems strange that they moved the game to the Rose Bowl with that kind of attendance. Seems like the LAFC stadium would have been better given the numbers
Scheduling conflict, according to internet.
A month ago, this was approved by Pasadena, and 50K were expected. 15K showed up.
