I’m so tired!
Guess I’ll go clean the kitchen bc it’s too late to take a nap.

Guess I’ll go clean the kitchen bc it’s too late to take a nap.
I have my alarm app on my phone set to wake me at the same time every day (be it weekday or weekend), subject to a constraint that I always want to be up 90 minutes before the first item on my calendar for the day.
That app also alerts me that it’s time to get ready for bed 7¾ hours before alarm time.
The net result of this: I went to bed an hour early last night, I’m not tired, and it feels more springlike by virtue of the “later” sunset…even though the clickbait headlines are teasing the “heaviest snow of the season” tomorrow night.
Despite that, I’d welcome and end to the twice-a-year circus of clocks changing themselves and people complaining about it. I’m not holding my breath on that, since there will probably never be consensus on the question of “standard time vs daylight saving time” (and the compromise of going to the half-hour in between the two is apparently inconceivable to too many Americans / too many Canadians don’t want to be like Newfoundland), and too many people will resist redrawing the time zone boundaries in such a way that would make consensus possible.
Me too.
I said to myself at least 50 times this morning: order a large coffee today. You need a large coffee today. twig, you are sleep deprived and you’re playing music in church… you need a large coffee. Do not order a medium coffee; order a large coffee.
As I’m ordering… remember to order a large coffee. You need the large today. Caffeine is your friend. Lots of coffee today… don’t forget the large coffee.
And after all of those self-reminders and more… I ordered a medium coffee.
Really? Did not know that.
Yeah, a new Speaker can’t grab a random bill from a past congress that a current senate wouldn’t vote for. Similar to the president needing to renominate judges, cabinet members, etc…
I had my alarm set for 8:00 this morning; my eyes popped open at 7:00. I was highly disappoint.
It makes sense… just not something I’d ever thought about one way or the other. I could make arguments on both sides, but good to know what the actual rule is.
Obviously that rule does not apply to Constitutional Amendments!
Except it almost certainly does for congressional purposes: both houses of the same congress each need to pass a proposed amendment by 2/3 majority. If one doesn’t, it will expire and need reintroduction.
Of course the states have time beyond the specific congress to ratify, but that wasn’t in question.
Unfortunately, for me, I can’t always just go to bed an hour earlier…oh, I can literally go to bed, but falling asleep is another matter.
What instrument?
Well I sometimes refer to myself as a dingaling if that helps.
Oh, hells bells, just tell me.
This is dumb and should not be described as “staying on DST forever”.
They switched time zones. Which is a fine thing to do and probably appropriate for more places than just Greenland.
That said, I appreciate you sharing the article, dumb headline notwithstanding.
Eh, tomato, potato.
LOL ok. For 99.99% of the world there is no difference. It is literally the same for any practical purpose to change time zones or permanently “switch” to DST.
Naw, DST implies changing clocks.
I guess what they really did was switched time zones and abolished DST.
And, I checked the math and it’s the same result.
But, now they’re saving any daylight at all!!! Oh, dear heavens what will they do???
(and…scene.)
I’m also guessing that the only reason they change their clocks is because Denmark changes their clocks, and they had wanted to be the same time difference away all year long.
So, Your Move, All Good People of Denmark.
Yes, I went there.
Can we get some of those Greenland politicians to come over here and pass that law too? Please and thank you.
