Taco Bell can give you the squirts.
I still remember the Jack in the Box E. coli outbreak, and havenât eaten there since. I almost always refer to it as E. Coli in the Box, which has resulted in my son inadvertently using that name when out with friends.
Unfortunate for taco bell, this sort of thing almost always is the result of a supplier issue that is 100% separate from anything that happens in the food prep stage. Those suppliers are less recognized but also sell the same bag of lettuce at the grocery store.
Taco Bell and the supplier both recalled the lettuce before the FDA did anything and have been handling it quite well (I donât remember the list of stores that they sell to, but the recall is for iceberg lettuce, Trader Joeâs is among the stores supplied)
The question could be, have cuts at the fda and cdc caused delays in identification of the source? Some of that is funding that goes to the states that could have picked this up sooner.
Good that taco bell and Taylor recalled this without the request of the fda, but thats just one dimension of it.
I saw Taylor Farms prepared salads at my local WalMart. I didnât see any bagged salad or bagged lettuce from Taylor Farms though. Donât remember if I have ever seen it there or not. But I thought I heard they were recalling Mexican lettuce so maybe this wasnât lettuce from Mexico. I didnât buy any Taylor Farms brand though, not taking any chances.
Our family visited a Chuck-a-rama (a regional buffet restaurant) once and all got sick. We then heard on the news that that location was linked to an outbreak of listeria. We probably should have called the health department and reported our sickness as well, though Iâm not sure if that would have helped or not. They ended up closing that store for 3 or 4 days while they deep cleaned the entire place. Less than a month later they had another listeria outbreak sourced to that store. They permanently closed that location. I believe they may have found another location in the general area.
Since then it has been UpChuck-a-rama to us. We have visited another location a couple times but usually go to a different chain if want to do a buffet.
to âhave a chuckâ means to vomit in Australia (and UK), so Chuck-a-rama probably wouldnât do so well there.
I believe it was based on a chuckwagon theme.
