Stretching vs mobility exercises

Thanks, I’ve been using the wrong term here then. I’ve found both those types of stretching fairly useless, but active motion getting towards the end of range of motion useful.

I’m pretty sure mine are actually a little too short. My father, who didn’t sit much and was very athletic, snapped an Achilles tendon twice. I inherited his hamstrings. Even as an elementary school kid i was never able to touch my toes.

As an elementary school kid i also dont think i could touch my toes. Now i can after stretching.

The stretching was for joint pain. One day i was thinking i felt way more flexible and was wondering if i could touch my toes and was shocked to see i finally could.

Dynamic stretching (arm/leg swings) and mobility exercises (banded distractions) prior to exercise. Static stretching, foam rolling, and/or any other mobility exercises after exercise.

I have never been able to touch my toes. I have short arms.

yeah, I don’t have short arms. I was just really not flexible at all.

injuring my knee at 12 and doing nothing about that might have added to this, but I don’t think I could touch my toes even before that.
