Sql, truncate then drop table?

In some of our scripts floating out there in the ether, syntax will begin with truncate table drop table.

Isn’t that redundant? If you’re just going to delete the entire table from existence(drop table) why go through the hassle of executing truncate table first?

Only thing i can think of is if this somehow makes things easier for the compiler or whatever, but it seems an unnecessary step.
