The incursion into the Kursk region is a true problem for Putin. His base line deal with the Russian people was I will keep you safe, and that is worth a few liberties. Well, maybe not it seems.
Compounding this is the force defending the homeland is the conscripts. They are not to ever see action in any place other than Mother Russia. Only the “volunteers” are outside the border.
But the only reserves are the conscripts. They get something less than the best of armaments and virtually no training. They are simply cannon fodder, which pose little resistance. And heavy casualties are sure to follow. Big PR problem.
