in case you’ve never seen it (and if so, you’re a terrible person and should be violently ashamed of yourself), and for those of you who have and need another crack at this gem of a webcomic:

Including revelations like this:

71yo in a Masters race runs a 12.89 100m

Do they test for PEDs?

Somehow i missed that today. Saw some other great stuff. The HS 4x400 was awesome

honestly, like, 80% of that field beats me in that race.

I was a 5K kind of day, despite mostly falling off the exercise wagon. Glad I wasn’t pushing for a PR, because there were more hills than I anticipated.

I got out for a 5-miler today. Trying to get out a couple times a week just to maintain some minimal level of fitness but it’s tough because I am really really lazy.

it was an 80 minutes on a flat gravel trail kind of day over here. felt really, really good after about 50 minutes. Had warmed up, had run through a session of knee pain and calf stiffness, had eaten a gel pack, was starting to get into the runner’s high, wasn’t yet tired, just felt like I could keep going. Ran out for 40 minutes, then walked about 2 minutes while I ate the gel pack and recovered slightly, turned and ran back and the return was just slightly faster than the trip out, as I almost reached the finish in the same 40 minutes (meaning I ran as much in the return as my run and walk on the way out).

Ready to sign up for my fall half marathons!

6.23 completely flat. Ran first 1.5 at pace just over 12 then run/walked the rest for overall pace just under 13. OK with that at age 75, but hoping to get back to 5K all running (shouldn’t be tough; have done that within past year. Maybe did 5 miles avg under 12 in past year, certainly in past 2 years).

Hi fam, just found this thread and still pretty new to running.

Started my journey around January with just a few minutes a day on the treadmill to build endurance and get used to the whole process. I quickly realized how important stretching is and not biting off too much too early, as I basically immediately started getting shin and back pain.

A few minutes slowly graduated into 10-15 minute intervals a couple times a week, then eventually running 20-25 minutes 3x a week outside once the weather started getting reasonable. The last few weeks I’ve been getting closer to 30 minutes and today I finally cracked 5k total distance at a 28:10 (8:57/mi) pace. As an aside, I’ve also been doing crunches/push-ups/basic weight exercises 2x a week.

Not necessarily looking for feedback or kudos but just wanted to brain dump about it since it’s still pretty fresh and I’m proud of myself for finally setting and keeping fitness goals :flexed_biceps:

I’m doing an hour, twice a week. I’m not yet at the point where I get a runners high. Looking forward to it.

Maybe that’s supposed to be part of the joke, but wouldn’t your first 10k always be record time?

Some quick tips about how to run a 3k:

i missed about 6 weeks owing to illness. have run the last 4 days, 3 miles a day. feels fine. HR is through the roof. So, i am running a pace and feel ok enough to just keep going at that pace, but not faster. but despite feeling relatively OK at the pace, the HR when i finish and check is bonkers high. (170bpm; a my age, that’s actually above max!)
