TIL 2 things about Tony Bennett I hadn’t heard before. I remember he was a veteran, but didn’t realize he was front line infantry and was one of the liberators of one of the Dachau concentration camps. I knew he was a civil rights activist, but hadn’t heard this piece before: ![Image](https://community.goactuary.com/uploads/default/original/3X/4/8/48b2963afa4722d369b648cce7602a899db7eb12.jpeg) ---

She showed up at a St Baldricks event and played a couple songs. I was standing next to her at the side of the stage and she looked so incredibly wary that I didn’t feel comfortable talking to her. But when anyone came up and asked to take a picture, she was very polite and obliging and had a nice smile on her face. ---

I really liked her jazz standards album: > **[Am I Not Your Girl?](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Am_I_Not_Your_Girl%3F)** > > Am I Not Your Girl? is the third studio album by Irish singer Sinéad O'Connor. It is a collection of covers of mostly jazz standards, which O'Connor describes as "the songs I grew up listening to \[and\] that made me want to be a singer". The album title comes from the song "Success Has Made a Failure of Our Home". The album is dedicated to the people of New York City and especially the homeless whom O'Connor met at St. Mark's Place. The album did not gain much critical acclaim or commercial succe... That is sad. Funny guy. Had his hang-ups (really, a handler (no pun) should remind him that he cannot do these things in public, and just watch the flick at home, you rich perv!!), and PeeWee’s Playhouse was awesome. It was being shown on IFC recently. Still funny. [Previous page](https://community.goactuary.com/t/rip-thread/512.md?page=51) [Next page](https://community.goactuary.com/t/rip-thread/512.md?page=53)
