Republicans Say the Darndest Things!

Let’s not forget those that elect to accept the mark of the beast on the forehead

I said at the time that the Cubs’ finally winning the World Series in 2016 was a sign that the End Times were upon us, and were a strong indication that either Hillary or Trump would be the Antichrist.

Oh, in the Left Behind series I think the “False Prophet” referred to in Revelation was from Cincinnati.

JD Vance is technically from Middletown, but he currently lives in Cincinnati. He’s not an archbishop in the Roman Catholic Church like the False Prophet, but he has converted to Catholicism.

Textual evidence in BOTH the bible and the left behind series.

Maga hats as both metaphorical and literal signs.

We are in trouble!

But who will get raptured if not the evangelical conservative christians? The unitarians? Devout star wars fans following the way of the force?

Tis the season for retribution.

Need to add this to the things All Americans are allowed to do: “Attempt a coup and get away with it, even if it fails.”

Disclaimer: not ALL Americans, of course. Just “our” side.

Two generations of my in-laws might have Trump merch in every room of their house. I haven’t checked every utility closet and bathroom, but Trump merch litters some rooms like Precious Moments crap.

lol…any Jim Shore statues?

In NC, the Republicans lost their super majority in the most recent election. So on their way out, they have over ridden a veto on a bill that does the following:

Hopefully there is at least one sane Republican in their house who can stop the override.

The GOP is all about ratfuckery this cycle. This has been decades in the making, but they’re ready to pull out all the stops.

Watch Josh Stein not replace an outgoing justice but instead hold that seat open and create a new seat. (Unclear if the NC Supreme Court could function that way, but I’d support the move.)

I think he was kidding, but with Trump I can’t be sure…

It was an uncomfortable meeting. Why would the subordinate go into the political calculus unless Trump might have meant it? And that in response to being told you are killing us? Really brutal.

Where does this idea come from that “Canada exports more to the US than it imports” means “Canada is ripping off the US”?

Because of our relative sizes, Canada has had to live with the possibility of becoming the 51st state since it became a nation. It is an uncomfortable thought for many Canadians including me. The combined country would undoubtedly be an economic juggernaut but I think most folks appreciate that we value our differences and money isn’t everything.

Trump’s vision would be that Canada would have a governor and presumably two senators. He might be less open to union if each Canadian province had two senators. Guessing the Democrats would win the Senate.

It’s an extension of American exceptionalism, I believe.

You may recall the “Canada”/“Jesusland” maps that were memed several years ago.

I’d think that such an outcome, with boundaries tweaked and “Jesusland” better-named “Gilead”, might be more stable and palatable.

I think Alberta and maybe Saskatchewan would happily join the USA but can’t think of any other provinces that would. I could support a new nation like Cascadia though.

My FIL once showed me a copy of a letter (link below) that George Washington sent to the people of what would become Canada inviting them to unite with the new USA. The rhetoric is interesting.
